The North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) department has announced the 2025 Opioid Settlement Fund Grant opportunity, inviting applications from eligible entities seeking to implement evidence-based programs and initiatives that address opioid use disorder across the state. This funding opportunity is part of the national opioid settlement with pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors, and funds must be utilized in alignment with Exhibit E of the settlement documents. A key requirement includes establishing a state advisory committee to guide funding priorities.
Applications for this grant are due by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on Monday, April 28, 2025. The total amount of funding available is contingent upon legislative appropriations for the 2025โ2027 biennium. Selected grantees will be awarded 24-month contracts beginning July 1, 2025, with awards expected to be announced in early June.
The grant is open to organizations that provide services within North Dakota and that address a broad scope of opioid-related interventions. Eligible activities include treatment and rehabilitation services, prevention programs, training and education efforts, and support systems for families and communities affected by opioid use disorder. Additional consideration will be given to proposals that align with the priority recommendations of the Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee.
Key priority areas include: expanding access to community-based treatment and recovery services in both rural and urban settings; increasing the availability of these services in jail and correctional environments; bolstering prevention efforts through community coalitions and youth initiatives; strengthening the behavioral health workforce; and supporting harm-reduction efforts such as Syringe Service Programs.
