Grant Description

Honda offers Community Event Sponsorships as part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility vision to strengthen the communities where its associates live and work. As a company deeply rooted in local culture and committed to community well-being, Honda provides support to organizations that celebrate the traditions, heritages, and cultural diversity of the areas in which they operate. The program reflects Honda’s commitment to valuing unique contributions and perspectives while fostering collective resilience and social strength. The purpose of the sponsorship program is to provide financial assistance for community events that promote connection, cultural enrichment, and civic engagement. Sponsorships are intended to help organizations produce high-quality events that bring communities together and highlight local traditions. Eligible uses of funds include costs directly related to event execution, but support will not be provided for political campaigns, religious programming, athletic teams, or retrospective funding for past events. Honda also excludes contributions that present conflicts of interest or fall outside of U.S. operations. Applications for this program are accepted year-round, with reviews and decision notifications on a rolling basis. While requests are generally considered throughout the year, applicants are advised that submissions received within eight weeks of an event date are not guaranteed a response. There is no formal pre-application process such as a letter of intent, and proposals must be submitted through Honda’s online system for consideration. Organizations may apply multiple times in a year for different events, but not for the same event. Funding awards for event sponsorships are available up to $25,000. There is no specified minimum award level, and the actual amount granted depends on the scope and nature of the event. Applicants should note that multiple requests may be approved across cycles, but funding cannot be used for auction items, raffles, or to support political or religious events. Matching funds are not required, though organizations must clearly demonstrate their nonprofit status and alignment with Honda’s community focus. Eligibility is limited to U.S.-based organizations with recognized tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code sections 501(c)(3), (c)(4), or (c)(6), as well as public school districts and elementary and secondary schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics. Fiscal sponsorship arrangements are permitted when using an eligible nonprofit sponsor. Organizations must be located in the United States and serve one or more states where Honda has a significant presence, including Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, and Texas. Ineligible applicants include political parties, fraternities, sororities, private clubs, individuals, and institutions located or operating outside of the United States. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions communicated as applications are evaluated. The program emphasizes alignment with Honda’s CSR priorities and the ability to deliver meaningful benefits to local communities. While no single point of contact is specified, applicants are expected to use the online submission portal. There is no fixed performance period, as the funding is tied directly to the timing of community events, but awardees must ensure funds are used appropriately and within the event cycle. As a recurring and continuously open program, it provides a flexible opportunity for community partners to seek sponsorship throughout the year.
