The Lewis H. Humphreys Charitable Trust was established in 2004 to support and promote high-quality educational, cultural, human services, and health care programming. The trust focuses on serving underserved and disadvantaged populations in East Central Kansas. Through its grantmaking, the trust aims to strengthen communities by investing in initiatives that enhance education, arts and culture, health services, and broader community improvement efforts.
The grant program is available to nonprofit organizations that operate within East Central Kansas. It supports a variety of funding purposes, including general operating support, program support, and capital support. Capital support grants, which may include funding for buildings, land, and major equipment, must address a compelling community need and provide broad social benefits.
The grant application cycle opens on February 1 and closes on March 31. All applications must be submitted by the March 31 deadline for consideration. Grant decisions will be communicated to applicants by June 30. Approved grants are for a one-year duration.
Eligible applicants should demonstrate a clear alignment with the trustโs mission of serving East Central Kansas residents. While general programmatic and operational expenses are eligible, organizations requesting capital support should provide strong justification for the necessity and community-wide impact of their projects.
