The Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) has announced the release of the Adult Reentry Grant (ARG) Program Request for Proposals (RFP) for Cohort 4. This grant provides funding to community-based organizations in California to deliver reentry services for individuals formerly incarcerated in state prison. The grant program was originally established in the Budget Act of 2018 (Senate Bill 840, Chapter 29, Statutes of 2018) to support organizations that assist in the reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals back into their communities.
A total of $114,000,000 in funding is available for this grant cycle, which covers the period from July 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028. The purpose of this funding is to ensure that eligible community-based organizations can develop and implement programs that provide housing, job training, counseling, mental health services, and other critical support to help reduce recidivism and improve the quality of life for returning citizens.
Eligible applicants for this grant must be community-based organizations located in California and designated as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). For-profit entities, government agencies, and individuals are not eligible to apply. The funding is strictly limited to organizations operating within the state of California.
The deadline to submit proposals to the BSCC is March 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Proposals must be completed and received by this time to be considered. Additionally, a virtual Grant Information Session will be held on December 17, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. via Zoom. This session will provide applicants with important details about the RFP and grant application process. The link for the session is included in the RFP and is also available on the BSCC website.
While BSCC staff cannot assist with the preparation of proposals, applicants may submit technical questions regarding the RFP, proposal process, or programmatic details via email to ARGCohort4@bscc.ca.gov. Further information, including access to the full RFP document, is available on the BSCC website (http://www.bscc.ca.gov/).
