The Elk County Community Foundation administers competitive open grants supported by established donor funds. These funds were created by individuals, families, and organizations with the goal of making meaningful contributions to the community. Grants are distributed to nonprofit organizations that align with the fund’s purpose and are designed to enhance the economic and social wellbeing of Elk County, Pennsylvania.
The Foundation supports community development initiatives that address broad community needs rather than serving only a few individuals. Projects are encouraged to demonstrate innovation, sustainability, and the potential for a lasting impact. Grants are generally used to support special projects or programs that serve the people of Elk County.
To apply, organizations must first create an organizational profile within the Foundation’s online application portal. All required documents must be uploaded digitally; hard copy submissions are not accepted. Links to individual applications are embedded within each fund description.
The application periods are open twice per year, closing on January 15 and July 15. Submissions are reviewed within 4 to 6 weeks after the deadline. Award amounts typically range from $2,000 to $3,000, though some grants may be as high as $10,000. Past grant recipients include the Guardian Angel Center, which received funding for essential baby items, and FSG Elementary School, which was awarded funds for experiential learning programs.
Eligible applicants must operate projects or services that benefit the Elk County region. Foundation staff are available to help guide applicants in aligning their projects with the appropriate fund and in navigating the application process.
Applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation first to ensure alignment with a suitable fund.
