Rapid Equity Fund

The Rapid Equity Fund is a grant initiative jointly administered by the REACH Healthcare Foundation and the Wyandotte Health Foundation, both of which are committed to improving community health outcomes and advancing health equity. REACH Healthcare Foundation focuses on expanding coverage and access to healthcare, particularly for underserved populations, while Wyandotte Health Foundation concentrates on promoting the health of Wyandotte County residents, especially those who are indigent. This collaborative effort leverages both organizations' strengths to support nonprofits working with some of the most vulnerable populations in their communities. Previously known as the Rapid REACH Equity Fund, the revitalized Rapid Equity Fund aims to streamline the grant process and provide quicker access to funds for organizations serving Black, Brown, Immigrant, Refugee, and rural populations. The initiative reflects the funders’ shared commitment to health equity and community empowerment. The grants are unrestricted, allowing organizations flexibility to use the funds where they are needed most, which is especially critical for smaller nonprofits with limited resources. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations with a valid 501(c)(3) status or qualifying rural government entities. Additionally, applicants must be headquartered and providing services within one of the six counties served by the REACH Foundation: Allen, Johnson, and Wyandotte counties in Kansas, and Cass, Jackson, and Lafayette counties in Missouri. Organizations must demonstrate alignment with the foundation’s mission by offering services such as healthcare access, case management, health navigation, mental health counseling, transportation to medical appointments, or preventative health screenings. Applicants must also meet a fiscal requirement, with annual operating budgets not exceeding $300,000. The funding ceiling for this opportunity is $5,000 per grant. While the fund is flexible in supporting general operations or programmatic needs, it does not support activities such as aid for individuals, medical research, Medicare-focused services, or single-disease programs. Endowments, fundraising activities, and deficit funding are also explicitly excluded. The application period for the most recent cycle has closed. However, the program operates on a recurring basis and is expected to reopen in a future cycle, pending fund availability.
