The Office of Minority Health announces the anticipated availability of funds for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 under the authority of 42 U.S.C. 300u-6 (Section 1707 of the Public Health Service Act).This notice solicits applications for projects to demonstrate that community level innovations that reduce barriers related to social determinants of health (SDOH) can increase use of preventive health services and make progress toward Leading Health Indicator (LHI) targets. LHIs are a subset of high priority Healthy People 2030 (HP2030) objectives selected to drive action toward improving health and well-being. SDOH are described in HP2030 as conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.We anticipate the availability of $8,000,000 for up to 14 awards, ranging from $475,000 to $600,000 annually, for a period of performance of up to 48 months. Recipients will be required to report on progress and milestones as part of an annual noncompeting continuation application. Costs of medical services are unallowable under this funding opportunity. Early in the fourth budget period, we anticipate offering a competing continuation opportunity for an additional 12-month budget period (i.e., a fifth budget period) to support selected successful projects in their transition to sustainability. Funding available for the additional budget period is not guaranteed nor expected to be at the same level of previous budget periods. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Grants and Acquisitions Management Division (GAM) will administratively support this competition. The purpose of the Promote Mental Health Among the Health Professional Workforce (PMHW) program is to support health care entities, including entities that provide health care services, such as hospitals, community health centers, and rural health clinics, or medical professional associations, to promote wellness, resilience, and mental health of the health care professional workforce using established or enhanced evidence-based or evidence-informed programs to transform organizational cultures.

The U.S. Department of Energys (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) is issuing this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL): Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation (RECI). The current FOA represents the second installment in the RECI initiative, which maintains the same broad format, flexibility, and crosscutting areas of interest, while emphasizing and prioritizing specific gaps, needs, and opportunities to support building energy codes identified as focal points through the first RECI FOA and continued stakeholder engagement. The activities to be funded under the FOA support the BIL, as well as a broader government-wide approach to advance building codes and support their successful implementation. The primary focus centers around updating to more efficient building energy codes that save money for American homes and businesses, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and encourage more resilient buildings. This FOA includes one topic area broadly focused on the cost-effective implementation of updated energy codes.

FDA announces the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2024 funds to support one or more projects to 1) collect antimicrobial use data from diverse animal sectors, including domestic livestock, poultry, companion animals (dogs, cats, and horses), and minor species (e.g., fish, sheep, goats) and 2) contribute to the development of data collection frameworks, including providing data and expertise as resources and a public-private partnership frameworks are established. This grant will support the continued advancement of FDA;apos;s initiatives to support antimicrobial stewardship in veterinary settings. It will also support the National Action Plan objectives to engage the animal health community and relevant stakeholders to advance strategies intended to improve understanding of antimicrobial use and foster antimicrobial stewardship in animal agriculture.

The Long Island Sound Futures Fund (LISFF), managed by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Long Island Sound Study (LISS), seeks to restore the health and living resources of Long Island Sound. This grant program, with approximately $12 million available in 2024, aligns with the foundation's mission by supporting efforts to test innovative conservation approaches, deliver transformative projects, and engage communities that value and protect the Sound. Major funding is provided by EPA through the LISS, with additional support from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Zoetis Foundation, demonstrating a collaborative strategic approach to environmental conservation. The LISFF targets a broad range of beneficiaries, including non-profit 501(c) organizations, state government agencies, local and municipal governments, Tribal Governments and Organizations, and educational institutions. The impact goals are centered on improving water quality, enhancing and restoring coastal habitats, and fostering sustainable and resilient communities around the Long Island Sound. The program’s strategic priorities are guided by the Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan 2020-2024 Update (CCMP), which emphasizes three core themes: Clean Waters and Healthy Watersheds, Thriving Habitats and Abundant Wildlife, and Sustainable and Resilient Communities. Cross-cutting principles of resiliency to climate change, long-term sustainability, and environmental justice are also integral to the program's theory of change. Under the "Clean Waters and Healthy Watersheds" theme, the program prioritizes reducing nitrogen pollution, combined sewer overflows, impervious cover, stormwater runoff, and point and nonpoint source loading. This includes funding for "shovel-ready" projects that result in quantifiable pollutant prevention, particularly those addressing water quality at a larger scale. Planning activities, such as community engagement, feasibility studies, site assessments, conceptual design, and final design and permitting, are also supported. Projects in the Upper Basin states (MA, NH, VT) are specifically focused on quantifiable nitrogen/nutrient prevention with a documented benefit to Long Island Sound. The "Thriving Habitats and Abundant Wildlife" theme focuses on enhancing or restoring coastal habitats to maintain resilience and function, supporting fish, bird, and wildlife populations, and sustaining the Sound's ecological balance. This involves implementing "shovel-ready" habitat restoration and nature-based or green-gray hybrid resilience projects, as well as planning activities for such projects. The program also aims to foster diverse, balanced, and abundant populations of fish, birds, and wildlife, encouraging proposals that consider the LISS Habitat Restoration Guidelines. The "Sustainable and Resilient Communities" theme supports vibrant, informed, and engaged communities through projects that offer hands-on conservation experiences. Expected outcomes include quantifiable pollutant reductions, enhanced and restored coastal habitats, increased resilience to climate change, and more engaged communities actively participating in the Sound's protection and sustainability. For water quality projects, measurable results will include quantifiable pollutant prevention, particularly nitrogen/nutrient reductions. For habitat projects, long-term maintenance plans and ecological improvements are expected. The LISFF's strategic framework, rooted in the CCMP, aims to accelerate local and regional water quality improvements, natural resource restoration, coastal resilience, environmental justice, and community outreach, ultimately leading to a healthier, more productive, and resilient Long Island Sound for both people and wildlife.

Led by EPA Region 1, the Southeast New England Program (SNEP) is a geographically based program intended to serve as a collaborative framework for advancing ecosystem and community resiliency, protecting, and restoring water quality, habitat, and ecosystem function, and developing and applying innovative policy, science, and technology to environmental management. The program was created to help communities, Tribes, municipalities, government agencies and private organizations improve ecosystem health and build resilience to the unique water quality, habitat and climate stressors faced within southeast coastal New England watersheds, recognizing that the regions economy and community health are vulnerable and directly tied to the health of its ecological systems.The Mission of the SOAR Fund is to improve and support the resilience of disadvantaged communities throughout the SNEP region with meaningful community involvement as it relates to the design and implementation of projects to address the anticipated effects of climate change and the historic, long-term impacts of environmental and social injustices. Through this initiative, SNEP plans to fund a host of planning, implementation, outreach, training, capacity, and staff-building projects that correspond with the goals, objectives and priorities outlined in SNEPs Five-Year Strategic Plan.

Any resultant award negotiations will follow all pertinent laws and regulations, and any negotiations and/or awards for procurement contracts will use procedures under FAR 15.4, Contract Pricing, as specified in the BAA. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting innovative proposals in the following areas of interest: feasibility assessment of scientific content and testing and evaluation of feasibility assessment methods. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice. Multiple awards are anticipated. The amount of resources made available under this BAA will depend on the quality of the proposals received and the availability of funds.

The purpose of the Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program is to improve the health outcomes and quality of life for populations at increased risk for the development of radiogenic cancers and/or disease resulting from exposure to radioactive materials through uranium mine industry work or fallout from nuclear arms testing. The United States conducted 227 above-ground and 828 below-ground nuclear weapons tests between July 1945 and November 1962. Many of the above-ground tests released radioactive material into the atmosphere. That material reached the ground as nuclear fallout. The dangers of radiation exposure were unknown at the time. Workers did not receive protection. People who lived near the test sites were not warned of potential dangers or told to evacuate. Workers and residents had radiation exposure from touching fallout on the ground, breathing polluted air, eating polluted foods, and drinking polluted water. People exposed to radiation generated by the nuclear weapons tests are at risk for certain cancers and other serious health problems.
