The NASE Growth Grant is an initiative by the National Association for the Self-Employed to provide financial assistance to support the expansion of small businesses in the United States. Since 2006, NASE has distributed nearly $1,000,000 through this program, making it a critical funding source for entrepreneurs aiming to grow their operations. The grant supports various business development needs, including marketing, advertising, hiring, technology upgrades, training, and facility expansion. However, it cannot be used to pay down debt or cover rent/mortgage expenses.
This grant opportunity is exclusively available to NASE members. Eligibility is tiered: Annual Members, Veteran Members, Silver Annual Members, and Gold Members may apply immediately, while Monthly Members and Silver Monthly Members are eligible after 90 days of membership. Applicants must also not be employees or contractors of the NASE.
To apply, members must log into their account and follow the application process through the designated member portal. Required application components include a business plan, a statement of grant use, financial documents (such as a tax return or profit and loss statement), a photograph, and any supporting documentation that provides additional context or justification. The application process allows progress to be saved and completed over time.
Applications are reviewed quarterly. Submissions received in Q1 (January–March) are reviewed in April; Q2 (April–June) in July; Q3 (July–September) in October; and Q4 (October–December) in January of the following year. The review committee evaluates applications based on the clarity and feasibility of the business need, how the grant will be used, and the anticipated impact on business growth.
Selected recipients are required to use funds as outlined in their application, maintain records of expenditures, and allow NASE to publicize their award. Grants are disbursed within 30 days of receipt of all signed documentation. Grant funds are generally taxable, and applicants are encouraged to consult with tax professionals. NASE emphasizes impartiality in its selection process and does not provide feedback on applications.
