The EXPAND ENERGY STEM Grant Program is an initiative aimed at enhancing STEM education in public schools within Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel counties. Funded by Expand Energy, the program offers targeted support to K-12 teachers through classroom-level project grants. The purpose of the program is to encourage the development and implementation of innovative, hands-on STEM activities that fall outside the scope of typical school budgets.
Each classroom may submit one application for up to $1,000 in grant funding. Proposals must center on creative and age-appropriate projects that enrich student learning in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Both exploratory and fully developed projects will be considered, including those that may be tested for broader classroom adoption. Projects that successfully leverage additional funding or matching support are welcomed.
Applications are evaluated based on the innovation and educational impact of the project. However, the grant program does not support general school laboratory supplies, media equipment, furniture, ongoing projects funded from other sources, routine teacher duties, or multi-year projects. Additionally, it does not fund costs such as admission fees, meals, transportation, stipends, or teacher compensation. Outside experts who contribute directly to student learning may be compensated if integral to the proposal.
All applications must be submitted online between September 5 and October 3, 2025. Funding decisions are expected by November 2025. A post-grant report, including a summary of outcomes and expenditure tracking, is required from all recipients. This ensures accountability and helps demonstrate the effectiveness of funded programs.
Interested educators may apply via the official application link and should contact Debbie at 304-242-3144 or debbie@cfov.org with any additional questions about the application process or project criteria.
Keep the proposal focused on creativity and educational value. Avoid requests for ineligible items like equipment or stipends. Clearly describe how external experts will support learning, if applicable.
