The City of Kissimmee's Small Business Relief Grant is part of its broader Business Boost program, designed to provide direct financial support to small businesses located within Kissimmee’s city limits that are continuing to experience economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This relief grant is not a loan and does not require repayment, with the goal of helping businesses remain operational and contribute to the city’s economic stability.
To be eligible, applicants must operate a business physically located in the City of Kissimmee, as confirmed through a deed or commercial lease. Businesses must meet the SBA’s definition of a small business, meaning fewer than 500 employees, and must have been established before March 11, 2021. Additionally, they must hold an active City of Kissimmee Business Tax Receipt, be listed as “Active” on the Florida Division of Corporations website (Sunbiz.org), and be current on all local taxes and fees. They must also be free of delinquent liens and code enforcement violations, and compliant with all zoning and business regulations.
Eligible businesses include both brick-and-mortar and home-based entities, provided they can demonstrate financial hardship between March 1, 2020, and December 30, 2024. Examples of hardship include decreased revenue compared to 2019 levels, increased operating costs, and debt incurred during the pandemic. Applicants are required to submit documentation including their Business Tax Receipt, proof of registration with Sunbiz.org, a signed W-9, business tax returns from 2019 to 2023, and supporting materials that demonstrate economic distress.
Grants are awarded based on the size of the business’s physical footprint: home-based businesses may receive $5,000; businesses operating in spaces up to 2,500 square feet may receive $10,000; those in spaces of 2,501 to 5,000 square feet may receive $15,000; and businesses occupying more than 5,000 square feet may be awarded $20,000. Grant funds may be taxable, and recipients are encouraged to consult a tax professional for advice.
Applications will be reviewed and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding, as grants are contingent on eligibility, documentation completeness, and funding availability. The application portal opened on September 17, 2025. Businesses with questions are encouraged to contact the Economic Development team at economicdevelopment@kissimmee.gov or 407-518-2556.
Ensure registrations are current. First-come, first-served. Submission does not guarantee award.
