H. Hovnanian Family Foundation Youth Empowerment Grants
This funding opportunity supports projects that empower underserved Armenian youth through education, health, and technology initiatives, particularly in regional communities.
The H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, a private philanthropic organization, is committed to advancing initiatives that contribute to the welfare and development of Armenians and Armenia. With a long-standing history of supporting diverse programs, the Foundation strategically funds efforts that promote progress and prosperity. Its funding model recently evolved to a quarterly cycle with each quarter dedicated to a specific thematic focus, aiming to optimize its impact. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the Foundation is concentrating on youth empowerment in Armenia, with particular attention to underserved regional communities. The Youth Empowerment Grants initiative acknowledges the persistent gaps in non-formal education and civic engagement among Armenian youth aged 13 to 35, especially in regions outside of major urban centers. Despite Armenia’s cultural emphasis on education, young people face challenges in accessing programs that foster civic awareness, healthy living, and technological literacy. The Foundation seeks to bridge this gap by funding projects that build leadership, promote well-being, and enhance science and digital competencies. Eligible projects may include community-based initiatives that cultivate active citizenship, sports or wellness programs that promote healthier lifestyles, and STEM-focused educational opportunities that equip youth for future challenges. These programs should demonstrate sustainability, innovation, and potential for long-term impact. Collaborative efforts involving public and private sector partnerships, or international and local organizations, are encouraged. Multi-year projects are also eligible. The application process begins with an eligibility quiz hosted on the Foundation’s website. If eligibility is confirmed, applicants are invited to submit a concept note. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis until the cap of 20–25 full applications for the quarter is reached. Once a concept note is approved, applicants must submit the full application via email by December 30, 2025. Early submission is strongly recommended due to limited acceptance slots. Grant recipients may be awarded an average of $30,000 to $35,000, with the Foundation allocating a total of $320,000 for this cycle. Although the number of expected awards is approximately 10–12, there are no strict limits. Funded activities must be rooted in demonstrable program outcomes, and prior grant recipients must wait 12 months post-award before reapplying. The evaluation process emphasizes impact potential and the sustainability of proposed interventions. For inquiries, applicants may contact Programs Manager Anahit Hakobyan at info@hovnanianfoundation.org. Funding decisions will be made by mid-February following the application deadline. The Foundation encourages U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations with Armenia-related missions to review eligibility criteria in detail and consider alignment with the current focus area before applying.
