Food Security and Community Wellness in Michigan
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Marquette County’s West End to improve food security and promote health and wellness initiatives for local residents.
The West End Health Foundation (WEHF) continues its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of Marquette County’s West End communities with the launch of two concurrent grant opportunities for Fall 2025. These include the Fall Programmatic Grant and the Fall Proactive Grant, both designed to address urgent and ongoing health challenges through local nonprofit initiatives. These grants reflect WEHF’s mission to foster a healthier, more resilient region by directly supporting organizations serving West End residents. The Fall Proactive Grant focuses exclusively on food security and responds to increased community need in this area. Through this initiative, WEHF will allocate $40,000 in total funding to support nonprofit-led efforts aimed at improving access to healthy and affordable food. Eligible projects may include food pantry expansions, nutritional education programs, or other innovative solutions to hunger and food insecurity affecting individuals and families in the region. The Fall Programmatic Grant is designed to support broader health and wellness initiatives in the community. A total of $50,000 in funding is available through this stream, with individual awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Funding is intended for nonprofits operating ongoing programs that enhance physical, mental, or emotional health. Potential projects include behavioral health programs, fitness or wellness activities, and services that increase healthcare access or support preventive care. Both grant programs are open to nonprofit organizations serving residents of Marquette County’s West End. Complete eligibility criteria are provided through the WEHF online portal. All applications must be submitted online between September 2 and September 26, 2025. The Foundation encourages applicants to apply early. The online portal, along with detailed guidelines and FAQs, is available at westendhf.org/grants. WEHF is accessible to prospective applicants needing additional information or guidance during the application process. Questions may be directed to the foundation via email at manager@westendhf.org or by calling (906) 226-6591 ext. 107. There are no required pre-application steps, and both grants follow a clearly defined deadline. Each grant cycle reflects WEHF’s focused and recurring investment in the long-term health of the region, particularly in areas of chronic need such as nutrition and wellness access.
