Grant Description

The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) is currently accepting applications for its Spring 2025 Grant Cycle, supporting nonprofit and community-based organizations in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Funding is available for programs in three categories: Historic Cemeteries, Housing, and Senior Services. The application period runs from March 31 to April 18, 2025, with awards announced by May 31, 2025. The Helen Parker Willard Fund focuses on grants for historic cemeteries in Jefferson County, especially those involved in preserving Civil War gravesites and public community history. The Housing Action Fund supports programs addressing homelessness and affordable housing, with a preference for collaborative efforts across counties, services for underserved areas, and initiatives that increase community knowledge. For projects centered in Jefferson County, additional funds are available through the Partnership for Affordable Housing Fund. The Kings Daughter Senior Citizens Charitable Fund awards grants to organizations that provide housing or services tailored to meet the physical, social, and psychological needs of senior citizens, supporting their well-being and long-term independence. Eligible applicants include existing nonprofits with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(13) status, public schools (for projects not funded by tax revenue), government or quasi-government agencies, religious organizations applying for non-sectarian charitable purposes, and civic groups applying for community-benefiting projects. Only one application per funding category is permitted, though applicants may apply to more than one category. Financial documentation requirements vary by size: organizations with over $300,000 in contributions must provide a financial review; those over $500,000 must submit an audit by an independent CPA. Applications must be submitted online through GoApply at https://goapply2.akoyago.com/ewvcf. New users are required to register. Public school teachers and church group representatives should register as individuals, while all others should register as organizations. In alignment with trust-based philanthropy principles, EWVCF awards and disburses funds upfront, without withholding for reimbursement. All grantees must submit a final report summarizing grant use by February 2, 2026, and attend a Zoom meeting in February 2026 to discuss the funded project. For questions or support, applicants may contact EWVCF via email at info@ewvcf.org or phone at 304.264.0353. The foundation's headquarters is located at 229 East Martin Street, Suite 4, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
