Mobilize Power Fund
This funding opportunity provides rapid support to gender justice organizations and collectives, particularly those led by BIPOC trans individuals and youth under 25, to respond to urgent challenges or opportunities in their advocacy work.
The Mobilize Power Fund is a rapid response grantmaking program administered by the Third Wave Fund, a private foundation fiscally sponsored by the Proteus Fund. This fund is designed to support gender justice organizations and collectives in responding to unanticipated threats or opportunities in their organizing and movement-building work. Applications are accepted from a wide range of eligible groups, including formal nonprofits, informal collectives, and individuals, especially those led by BIPOC trans people, youth under 25, and groups without tax status. The Mobilize Power Fund is not intended for ongoing or preplanned programming, nor to address general budget shortfalls. Instead, it prioritizes responses to specific incidents or shifts that have occurred within the past six months. Examples of eligible activities include emergency safety and defense, mutual aid mobilizations, healing justice, and conflict resolution. All applicants must demonstrate how their proposed activities will directly address these recent circumstances and advance gender justice. Applicants may apply via three formats: written proposal (1β2 pages), video submission (up to 10 minutes), or scheduled phone/Zoom interview. The fund provides templates for the application narrative, project budget, and organizational or fiscal sponsor documentation. Proposals are submitted through the Fluxx online portal, and applicants are encouraged to set up an account at least two days before their intended submission date to ensure a smooth process. The fund follows a cyclical review schedule, with remaining deadlines in 2025 including July 1, August 5, and October 7. Applicants are typically notified within 4β6 weeks of the deadline, and funds are disbursed within 5β8 weeks post-submission. Grants are generally small, though specific amounts are not disclosed publicly. All awards are subject to standard fiscal reporting requirements and must be used for the proposed time-sensitive activity. For application questions, email mpf@thirdwavefund.org or call 917-387-1262 x 920. The program remains open to U.S.-based applicants, including those in U.S. territories, and applications are accepted in English and Spanish through accessible methods.
