Friends of Coleman County Foundation (CCF)
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in Coleman County to address pressing community needs across various sectors, including education, health, and youth development.
The Coleman County Foundation Grant Program, administered by the Friends of the Coleman County Foundation, supports nonprofit and public agencies delivering community services in Coleman County, Texas. Since its inception in 1999, the Coleman County Foundation has awarded over $1.3 million to community organizations. The Friends of the Coleman County Foundation, formed in 2005 by a coalition of local leaders, further expanded these efforts by encouraging local engagement and grantmaking through volunteer-based decision-making. Over the last 15 years, this group has reinvested more than $370,000 into the community. The foundation provides two funding cycles annually: the spring cycle under the Friends of the Coleman County Foundation and the fall cycle under the Coleman County Foundation itself. Each has distinct funding limits, with spring grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 and fall grants ranging from $1,000 to $15,000. The foundation prioritizes projects that address pressing needs across various fields, including arts and culture, education, health and mental health, community development, housing and shelter, youth development, and social services. Funding cannot be used for maintenance, individual aid, debt repayment, political activities, or church-related programs that do not serve the entire community. Eligibility is limited to IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and public/government entities. Fiscal agents may be considered but require prior discussion with the foundation's grants team. Only one proposal per organization is permitted per grant cycle, although organizations may reapply in both the spring and fall rounds each year. Projects serving Coleman County residents are the only ones eligible for consideration. The foundation uses an online grant management system, Foundant GLM, for all application submissions. Applicants must create an account and submit all documentation through this system. Application previews and tutorials are available on the foundation’s website, but these are for reference only, as all applications must be submitted through the online portal. The spring grant cycle opens January 15 and closes March 1, while the fall grant cycle closes October 1. Based on today’s date of August 20, 2025, the next application period will close on October 1, 2025. All prior grant recipients are required to submit a Grant Evaluation Form through the Foundant GLM system before applying for new funding. The evaluation must be submitted either within a year of receiving the grant or upon full expenditure of awarded funds, whichever occurs first. Failure to comply may delay or disqualify future applications. Questions regarding evaluations or past compliance should be directed to Meagan Harris, Rural Grants Manager, at mharris@cfabilene.org. The program is tailored to Coleman County, Texas, and is not open to statewide or national applicants. The foundation offers clarity, structure, and support throughout the process, including access to tutorials and sample forms. This localized approach, paired with its clear eligibility and application requirements, provides an accessible opportunity for qualified organizations to address specific community needs with targeted support.
