The Perry & Ruby Stevens Charitable Foundation Grant
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Texas Hill Country that are dedicated to improving social welfare and enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
The Perry & Ruby Stevens Charitable Foundation was established in January 2006 by Ruby Stevens to honor the wishes of her late husband, Perry Stevens. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting qualified nonprofit organizations focused on a wide range of charitable objectives, including health, social welfare, and emergency services. Its mission emphasizes targeted support over general operational funding, focusing on meaningful, outcome-driven programs. The Foundation is especially responsive to organizations located in or serving the Texas Hill Country. The Foundation considers grants for nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status that are not classified as private foundations under Section 509(a). Eligibility is restricted to organizations with at least three years of operating history. Program areas of interest include care for individuals with disabilities or illnesses, assistance for abused or neglected women, support for volunteer firefighting programs, disaster relief, animal welfare, resources for the elderly, and care for disadvantaged or abused youth. Proposals must align with these defined charitable objectives, and organizations must demonstrate specific goals and measurable outcomes. The grantmaking process begins with mandatory user registration in the Foundationโs E-Grant System, followed by submission of a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). The LOI is reviewed within two weeks, and only applicants invited to submit a full application may proceed. The full proposal requires detailed responses and specific supporting documents such as project budgets, organizational financials, lists of staff and board members, and letters of support. Applications are reviewed over a 2โ3 month period, and the Foundation may request interviews or site visits as part of the review process. The Foundation reviews grant proposals quarterly. Application deadlines for 2025 are January 3, March 21, June 27, and September 26, with trustee meetings following later each quarter. LOIs must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the application deadline. Applicants are notified of decisions via mail or email after the trustee meetings. Successful applicants receive a grant agreement by mail and must return it signed before funds are disbursed. Applicants can access their status and submission history through the Application Status Page within the E-Grant system. Once submitted, neither the LOI nor the application can be modified, so applicants are encouraged to complete all fields carefully. The system enforces field requirements and character limits to ensure completeness and consistency. For assistance with the application process, including technical issues or general inquiries, applicants can contact Mark Milton, Executive Director, at (830) 896-0630 or stevensfoundation@hctc.net. The Foundation maintains both a physical office in Kerrville, Texas and a mailing address at P.O. Box 291929, Kerrville, TX 78029.
