Artadia Awards – Los Angeles
This grant provides financial support and career development opportunities for contemporary visual artists in Los Angeles, promoting diverse and innovative artistic practices.
The Artadia Awards offer unrestricted financial support and professional recognition to contemporary visual artists residing in designated U.S. cities. Administered by Artadia, a nonprofit organization dedicated to equitable support for visual artists, the awards are designed to provide artists with the freedom to apply the funds in any manner they deem appropriate, supporting their continued creative practice and professional growth. For the Los Angeles cycle, the application window is open from January 1 to February 1, 2026. Artadia runs an open-call process, free of charge, inviting eligible artists to apply through the Submittable platform. The process begins with a one-month application window in each program city. Once applications are submitted, a three-person jury, including at least one curator based locally, conducts a review of all submissions. This jury selects six finalists based on the strength and potential of the work presented. In the second round, a separate jury composed of one returning juror and one new juror conducts virtual studio visits with each of the six finalists. These 45-minute sessions provide a deeper understanding of each artist’s work, allowing for more comprehensive evaluation. Following these visits, the jury selects three awardees to receive unrestricted grants of $15,000 each. Additionally, in the Los Angeles cycle, one artist is selected to receive the Marciano Artadia Award, which provides $25,000 in unrestricted funding. Finalists not chosen as awardees receive honorariums in recognition of their time and effort. Applicants must be contemporary visual artists presenting work in contemporary art contexts such as museums, galleries, arts nonprofits, or public art settings. Artists working in film for cinematic distribution or in choreography outside a visual art context are ineligible. Applicants must have lived and worked in the eligible counties for at least two years prior to the deadline, not be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an art-related degree program, and not have received more than $10,000 from Artadia in the past. Former finalists are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted via Submittable and include digital images or time-based media for review. Artists may log in and out of the platform as needed before final submission. If selected as a finalist, applicants must be available for a virtual studio visit. Applicants must be the sole conceptual authors of their work unless clearly applying as collaborators. Artadia emphasizes an equitable and rigorous selection process, aimed at identifying artists with strong artistic vision and potential for growth. Inquiries and accessibility assistance are available through Artadia’s contact email and phone line.
