Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or projects sponsored by a registered 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. The foundation will not fund capital campaigns, advertising, lobbying, retroactive projects, or new staff positions without sustainability plans. Faith-based organizations may not apply for religious programming. MACF prioritizes initiatives in the categories of Arts & Culture, Community Development, Education, Environment, and Health & Human Services. Special focus areas include housing stability, community pride, hospice services, early childhood education, and programs for individuals with terminal or debilitating illnesses. Grant proposals are evaluated by the MACF Advisory Committee, which may request interviews or site visits during the review process.
