The Avangrid Foundation Wildlife Rehabilitation Program offers funding to wildlife rehabilitation organizations within Avangrid's service areas. Since its inception in 2016, the program has awarded over $640,000 to support local centers dedicated to wildlife care, public education on wildlife and renewable energy, and fostering environmental relationships within these communities. For the 2024 grant cycle, applications open on November 1 and must be submitted by November 22 at midnight.
To qualify, applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations or similarly qualified entities with a core mission of wildlife rehabilitation, have over a year of operating history, hold necessary permits for wildlife care, and operate within an Avangrid service area. Eligible organizations should submit a completed funding request to avangridfoundation@avangrid.com by the specified deadline.
The Avangrid Foundation’s funding priorities align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Iberdrola Foundation’s 2022–2025 Master Plan, which emphasizes sustainability, environmental protection, and community prosperity. Grants awarded by Avangrid frequently support projects that meet multiple SDGs, with preference given to initiatives that align closely with these goals.
