This Notice of Intent to Publish is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects for the following Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), which is expected to be published in January 2024, with an anticipatedapplication receipt date in May 2024. The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies(BRAIN) Initiative intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a NOFO to solicit applications that would support development and preclinical testing, beginning withproof of concept,of next-generation recording and/or modulation devices for human use to further our understanding of the human central nervous system and treat nervous system disorders. The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIBIB R25 program is to support educational activities thatcomplement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Courses for Skills Development.This FOA seeks to support programs that include innovative approaches to enhance biomedical engineering design education to ensure a future workforce that can meet the nations needs in biomedical research and healthcare technologies. Applications are encouraged from institutions that propose to establish new or to enhance existing team-based design courses or programs in undergraduate biomedical engineering departments or other degree-granting programs with biomedical engineering tracks/minors. This FOA targets the education of undergraduate biomedical engineering/bioengineering students in a team-based environment. While current best practices such as multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary education, introduction to the regulatory pathway and other issues related to the commercialization of medical devices, and clinical immersion remain encouraged components of a strong BME program, this FOA also challenges institutions to propose other novel, innovative and/or ground-breaking activities that can form the basis of the next generation of biomedical engineering design education.

In an effort to support the maintenance of cognitive and mobility skills, the Illinois Department of Public Health, Office of Healthcare Regulation (OHCR) announces an opportunity for certified facilities to submit applications to implementation changes to increase the quality of life within their facility. This grant seeks to provide facility staff training in the areas of; (1) showering and personal care, (2) nutrition, choking, and dietary issues, (3) social interaction / social isolation, and (4) showering and personal care. By addressing each topic individually for two hours bi-annually, the overall quality of life within Long Term Care facilities will increase.
