The Rebuild and Recover Disaster Program, initiated by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, aims to aid local communities in recovering from weather-related incidents. Eligible incidents include those with significant damage to owner-occupied homes, either without a Presidential Disaster Declaration or with one necessitating federal assistance before completion of a damage assessment. Grants, ranging from $100,000 to $500,000, are available to affected city or county governments. Funds can be utilized for rehabilitation, demolition, relocation, and administrative costs. Federal program designed to assist low income households, particularly those who pay a high proportion of household income for home energy bills, meet their immediate home energy needs by providing an annual energy benefit. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is 100 percent federally funded through a grant from the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. LIHEAP provides funds to the states to help meet the utility costs of low-income eligible elderly and disabled adults.

Credit against federal tax liability for investors in the construction or rehabilitation of affordable rental housing. The Low-Income Housing Credit is a credit against federal income tax liability each year for 10 years for owners and investors in low-income rental housing. The amount of tax credits is based on reasonable costs of development, as determined by THDA, and the number of qualified low-income units.

This program provides funding to build wheelchair ramps and make home modifications for individuals with mobility disabilities in Tennessee, ensuring they have better access to their homes.

Minor home repair program for elderly and disabled homeowners. The program is administered by development district and human resource agency partners on a statewide basis. To correct, repair, or replace an essential system and/or critical structural problem for low-income homeowners who are elderly (60+) or disabled. This is not a comprehensive home renovation program; the aim is to stabilize the homeowner's residence by making essential repairs to make the home more livable.

Designed to assist individuals with severe disabilities and their families to remain together in their homes and communities. Services are designed to be flexible and responsive to individual or family needs. Services can include but are not limited to: Respite care, day care services, home modifications, equipment, supplies, personal assistance, transportation, homemaker services, housing costs, health related needs, nursing and counseling.

Federal program designed to help homeless individuals / families enter into a shelter with the goal of finding affordable housing or maintain affordable housing. THDA administers the federally funded Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program for the state of Tennessee in 92 of the state's 95 counties in order to fund the provision of services necessary to help persons who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness to quickly regain stability in permanent housing.

The BlueAngel Community Health Grant program at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island aims to fund organizations and programs that will result in more Rhode Islanders being able to afford safe, healthy, and stable housing. The program seeks to increase awareness about safe, affordable housing as a shared public concern and highlight solutions to support access to safe and affordable housing. The grant is open to Rhode Island nonprofit agencies that have qualified for exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code or are public instrumentalities. Funding amounts historically range from $25,000 per year to $75,000 per year. Applicants are invited to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI), which will be reviewed by a BCBSRI LOI Review Subcommittee. Selected agencies will then be invited to submit full proposals for funding. Site visits will be conducted by Community Relations staff with each of the finalist organizations. The THDA Challenge Grant Program provides initial seed funding to support the private fundraising efforts of nonprofit organizations across Tennessee to implement housing and related activities that represent unique milestones, are part of a broad community initiative, or are part of a significant expansion of work outside the normal day-to-day activities of the organization. Selected proposals must generate cash leverage of at least 300% within nine months of THDA’s commitment of Challenge Grant resources to the housing initiative.

Provides gap funding to eligible nonprofit entities to help cover the costs to build new construction or substantially rehabilitate homes in distressed communities where property values still have not recovered. The Appraisal Gap Pilot Program (“Gap Program”) is a pilot program designed to provide a subsidy to eligible nonprofit entities, based on the difference or gap between the costs to build new homes or to substantially rehabilitate homes and the appraised value of the home that the nonprofit will sell to an eligible buyer. The Gap Program Subsidy may not fill the entire gap. The Gap Program’s goal is to expand the availability of affordable housing in areas of the state where property values have not fully recovered from the mortgage crisis.

CAL FIRE's Wood Products and Bioenergy team seeks to maintain and enhance the wood products infrastructure of California to promote healthy resilient forests throughout the state by supporting a diverse set of business development and workforce development projects.  ; Eligible business development projects include facilities, operations, and professional services that support the restoration of healthy, resilient forests.   Eligible workforce development projects include universities, colleges, government and community organizations, and businesses that aim to increase workforce capacity in the fields of logging, fuels treatment, transportation, manufacturing, or other support services that bolster the development of a resilient forest sector workforce.   Research and development projects related to both business and workforce development will also be considered. GPD Grants Introduction The GPD Program is VAs largest transitional housing program for Veterans experiencing homelessness and is permanently authorized under Public Law 109-461. Since 1994, the GPD Program has awarded grants to community-based organizations to provide transitional housing with wraparound supportive services to assist vulnerable Veterans move into permanent housing. The grants are designed to meet Veterans at various stages as they move to stable housing. Community-based organizations receiving GPD grants offer focused transitional housing services through a variety of housing models targeted to different populations and needs of Veterans. The GPD program plays a vital role in the continuum of homeless services by providing supportive services to those Veterans who would otherwise be among the unsheltered homeless population. The result of GPD programs is that Veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and/or income and obtain greater self-determination. Types of GPD Grants Transitional housing grants: Per Diem Only (PDO) grants provide funding in the form of per diem payments to reimburse grantees for the cost of care provided to Veterans in transitional supportive housing. Special Need grants target housing and services to specific populations of Veterans (e.g., women, Veterans with chronic mental illness, frail elderly Veterans, Veterans caring for minor dependents, terminally ill Veterans). Transition-In-Place (TIP) grants offer Veteran residents housing in which supportive services transition out of the residence over time, rather than the resident. Upon completion of the TIP services, the resident retains the unit as their permanent housing with no requirement to move. Other types of grants: Case Management grants support Veterans who were previously experiencing homelessness or who are at risk for homelessness so that they may obtain or retain permanent housing. Capital grants support the costs of acquiring, renovating or constructing facilities and are only offered intermittently to improve existing facilities or to develop new transitional housing depending on the needs of the Department and funding availability. Each notice of funding will clarify specific eligibility criteria, application requirements, funding limitations and other requirements. Applications are submitted through an online portal that is only available when there is an open notice of funding. This grant provides funding for research partnerships that address specific housing and urban development priorities, requiring at least half of the project costs to be covered by other funding sources.

The Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP) is authorized and funded by Section 30002 of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, (Public Law 117-169) (the IRA), titled Improving Energy Efficiency or Water Efficiency or Climate Resilience of Affordable Housing. The program seeks to amplify recent technological advancements in utility efficiency and energy generation, bring a new focus on preparing for climate hazards by reducing residents and properties exposure to hazards, and protecting life, livability, and property when disaster strikes. GRRP is the first HUD program to simultaneously invest in energy efficiency, energy generation, and climate resilience strategies specifically in HUD-assisted multifamily housing. All of the investments under the GRRP will be made in affordable housing communities serving low-income families in alignment with the Administrations Justice 40 goals.HUD is offering GRRP funding through three separate cohorts designed to meet the different needs of HUDs assisted multifamily portfolio. Round One of the GRRP consists of three cohorts of awards, implemented through three parallel Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs):The Elements NOFO provides modest awards designed to add proven and highly impactful climate resilience and carbon reduction measures to the construction scopes of in-progress recapitalization transactions.The Leading Edge NOFO provides funding to Owners aiming to quickly meet ambitious carbon reduction and resilience goals without requiring extensive collaboration with HUD.The Comprehensive NOFO provides funding to initiate recapitalization investments designed from inception around deep retrofits, focused on innovative energy efficiency and greening measures, renewable energy generation, use of structural building materials with lower embodied carbon, and climate resilience investments. Comprehensive Awards are designed for the widest range of properties, including those that have not yet developed a recapitalization plan.To the greatest extent feasible, these approaches will:Substantially improve energy and water efficiency, including moving properties toward net zero, zero energy ready, or zero over time energy performance; Address climate resilience, including synergies that can be achieved between efficiency and resilience investments;Enhance indoor air quality and resident health;Implement the use of zero-emission electricity generation and energy storage;Minimize embodied carbon and incorporate low-emission building materials or processes; andSupport building electrification.
