The REDI: NIA Entrepreneurship Enhancement Award (R25) is a grant aimed at providing entrepreneurial training to graduate students, postdocs, and early career scientists in fields related to aging and Alzheimer's disease research, to prepare them for diverse career paths.

The Office of Native American Affairs (ONAA) mission is to ensure that American Indian, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians (referred to collectively as Native American) seeking to create, develop and expand small businesses have full access to the business development and expansion tools available through the Agency’s entrepreneurial development, lending and procurement programs. ONAA’s overarching goal is to promote and support American Indians, Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiian entrepreneurs. In recent years, ONAA has successfully sponsored and managed nation- wide contractor-led workshops and roundtables, co-sponsored agreements, interagency agreements, and tribal consultations; developed and distributed promotional materials; and attended and participated in national and regional economic development conferences as subject matter experts for these groups. The focus of this pilot program initiative is to award a grant to a Native American serving business to carry out projects that support developing exports by eligible Native small businesses. The objective of NATEP is to increase (1) the number of Native small businesses that export, (2) the dollar value of exports, and (3) the number of Native small businesses exploring significant new trade opportunities. Such empowerment will serve to maximize economic impact and improve quality of life for the targeted underserved communities. Section 7(j) of the Small Business Act authorizes the U.S. Small Business Administration to provide management and technical assistance to eligible individuals and businesses. To be eligible for 7(j) services, a client must be: a socially and economically disadvantaged individual whose firm is a participant in the 8(a) Business Development Program; a business that is eligible to receive 8(a) contracts; or a business which qualifies as small under 13 CFR subpart 121 – Small Business size Regulations, and which is located in an urban or rural area with a high proportion of unemployed or low-income individuals, or which is owned by low-income individuals. The term “high proportion of unemployed” means the urban or rural county’s unemployment rate is not less than 140 percent of average unemployment rate for the United States or for the State in which such county is located, whichever is less, based on the most recent data available in the annual Local Area Unemployment Statistics report from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics. The term “low- income individual” means an individual whose family’s taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level amount established by the Bureau of Census, U.S. Department of Commerce, for determining poverty status.

This funding opportunity supports clinical trials aimed at developing new therapies for rare neurodegenerative diseases, such as ALS, and is open to a wide range of eligible organizations, including universities and nonprofits.

With this solicitation, OJJDP seeks to provide funding to communities to develop intervention and supervision services for youth with problematic or illegal sexual behavior, and to provide treatment services for their victims and families/caregivers. Notice of Funding Opportunity Description Background Although vaccines are among the most effective approaches to control viral diseases, developing a prophylactic or therapeutic HIV vaccine has proven elusive. There are no licensed vaccines for HIV. Strategies for induction of HIV broadly neutralizing antibodies will likely require repeated exposures over long periods, including immunization with distinct antigens in sequential order. Such immunization strategies will require development of technologies for controlled vaccine release. Recent advances in materials-based science, controlled release technologies, delivery systems, and immunology provide opportunities to enhance the quality, potency and durability of vaccine-induced T cell and antibody responses to HIV-1. Materials-based approaches can be engineered to improve the stability, spatiotemporal release, and presentation of multiple vaccine components; for example, by controlling the time frame and dose of vaccine delivery over days to weeks. Recent studies have shown that a slow-release vaccine is superior to bolus administration at inducing breadth, potency, and durability of antibody responses to HIV antigens by prolonging antigen exposure in the germinal centers, thereby enhancing the maturation of B cells and generating stronger humoral immune responses. Further research is needed to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the immunological improvements observed with slow-release vaccine delivery and to translate such concepts into clinical application. It will be crucial to determine how the duration of exposure to vaccine components impacts immune cell biology, and how to calibrate vaccine release to improve responses while avoiding immune exhaustion and over-activation. Advancing safe, effective, and well-tolerated controlled release vaccines is an unmet need that may enhance vaccine effectiveness and practicality, leading to better adherence to complex regimens, fewer adverse reactions, and cost savings. Finally, iterative behavioral studies during product development to determine vaccine/provider product expectation/preferences are critical to facilitate product uptake and use.

Historic battlefields and sites of armed conflict are powerful reminders of the shared heritage of all Americans. As an ongoing effort to engage all Americans in the preservation of cultural resources beyond our park boundaries, the National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program (NPS ABPP) promotes the preservation and interpretation of these important places. NPS ABPP awards financial assistance to support community-driven stewardship of battlefields and sites of armed conflict through four grant opportunities Preservation Planning, Battlefield Restoration, Battlefield Interpretation, and Battlefield Land Acquisition.NPS ABPP administers Battlefield Interpretation Grants to provide assistance for projects that deploy technology to modernize and enhance battlefield interpretation and education at Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War battlefield sites eligible for assistance under the Battlefield Acquisition Grant Program established under 54 U.S.C. 308103(b). These grants are funded from the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which invests earnings from offshore oil and gas leasing to help strengthen communities, preserve history and protect the national endowment of lands and waters. Funding will support scoping and implementation activities for historic preservation projects at eligible sites and will be awarded competitively. Grants require a dollar-for-dollar non-Federal match. State, local, and tribal governments, as well as nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply.Successful applicants typically provide straightforward answers to the Merit Review Criteria, backed by clear and concise supporting documentation, including but not limited to GIS maps, resumes/CVs, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, summary tables, and other relevant information. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services (WS) is announcing the availability of around $500,000 in cooperative agreement funding to further develop and implement wild cervid chronic wasting disease (CWD) surveillance, testing, management, and response activities, including further development and evaluation of techniques and strategies to prevent or control CWD in wild cervids on lands owned or managed by Tribal entities.
