The United States Agency for International Development in Democratic Republic of Congo (USAID/DRC) is seeking applications for a Fixed Amount Award (FAA) Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the USAID Espoir 2030 in Haut Katanga. Eligibility for this award is restricted to local non-governmental entities as defined in ADS 303.6. USAID intends to make an award to the applicant who best meets the objectives of this funding opportunity based on the merit review criteria described in this NOFO subject to a risk assessment. Eligible parties interested in submitting an application are encouraged to read this NOFO thoroughly to understand the type of program sought, application submission requirements and selection process. USAID/DRC envisions that the USAID Espoir 2030 Haut-Katanga award will be five-year long activities that will focus on service delivery in three (3) zones outside Lubumbashi. The activity will collaborate with existing (EpiC, IHP, Chemonics Francophone Task Order) and other USAID and development partners implementing HIV programming. The number of health zones supported in the province can change depending on PEPFAR and the GDRC orientations. The service delivery model intends that each activity in a specific province will include all aspects of HIV epidemic control, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and key populations (KPs) programming, to ensure smooth transition of the existing key populations program (EpiC). Individuals from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical research are eligible for support under this award if they have doctoral research degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent) and are in the first 3 years of a faculty tenure track or equivalent position at the time of application. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing to serve as the lead investigator of an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or a separate ancillary study to an existing trial, as part of their research and career development. NINDS will only accept applications to this FOA that propose human mechanistic trials/studies that meet NIH's definition of a clinical trial and that fall within the NINDS research priorities. The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to solicit applications for the Coordinating Center (CC) of the ML/AI Tools to Advance Genomic Translational Research (MAGen) Consortium. In collaboration with the MAGen Sites funded by the companion NOFO (RFA-HG-24-004) the CC will explore the feasibility of developing Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that can enhance the accuracy and precision of predicting how individuals with pathogenic genetic variants manifest disease. The CC will be responsible for implementing approaches to bring diverse teams together to enable synergistic and collaborative team science across the Consortium. Specifically, the CC will be responsible for technical, scientific, and administrative coordination activities to support the Consortium research activities including development of consortium wide plans, coordinated ELSI-informed ML/AI tool development and cross validation, and dissemination of the developed resources.

Substance use needs to be better incorporated into interventions for the engagement and retention of sexual minority persons in prevention and care with attention to emergent interventions such as long-acting PrEP. Changing self-definition of sexual minority status has implications for outreach and provider stigma and needs to be better integrated into interventions. This initiative will address these gap areas and support epidemiologic, intervention, and implementation research that incorporates attention to HIV as a syndemic including comorbidities such as STIs, HCV, and psychiatric disorder.

The National Cancer Institute intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications forresearch on the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma in HIV-positive individuals diagnosed with cancer. This NOFO will utilize the R01 grant mechanism (clinical trial optional). Up to six (6) R01 awards are expected to be funded as part of the initiative. Research projects search project will advance the current understanding of the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma among people with HIV (PWH) diagnosed with cancer; assess the impact of these two converging stigmas on cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; leverage stigma reduction interventions at multiple levels to intervene on modifiable mechanisms of stigma that contribute to negative cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; and promote research in diverse domestic and international contexts, focusing on regions in which the HIV-cancer burden is elevated. The NOFO is expected to be published in late Summer 2024 with an expected application due date in late Fall 2024.
