The program will support the development of climate-informed land conservation, stewardship, policy, or communications plans that address one or more of the following issues habitat resilience, carbon mitigation, renewable energy siting or community adaptation to climate impacts such as stronger storms, flooding, drought, fire or extreme heat. Projects should achieve one or more of the following deliverables: Land protection plans Incorporate climate science into new or existing strategic conservation plans that target land protection for climate adaptation or mitigation. Management plans Incorporate climate science into land stewardship or management plans to address adaptation and/or mitigation strategies. Communications plans Develop a comprehensive climate communication strategy that promotes the adaptation and mitigation goals of the organization and its conservation or stewardship plans. Renewable Energy Siting Plans Develop a plan, decision matrix and/or policies to guide organizational engagement with renewable energy siting on conservation lands and/or in service areas. Funding Information Through the program, Land Trust Alliance and Open Space Institute will award $200,000 to support projects in the 2024 grant round. Projects must begin in 2024 and be completed by Dec. 1, 2025. Eligible Use of Grant Funds The grants may be used to cover costs associated with the development of strategic conservation plans or land management plans as described above and/or to develop internal policies, procedures, and communications in support of this work. Eligible costs include, but are not limited to staff time, travel, graphic design, printing, mailing, indirect costs (up to 15%) and project consultants. Grant funds are invested in projects that include one or more of the following priorities: Required: Demonstrate improvements in quality of surface waters. Educate a large and/or varied segments of Ellensburg’s population on what water quality is, and what actions they can take to improve or protect it. Educate best practices to reduce/eliminate adverse impacts to water quality. Funding Information A total of $10,000 is available for this grant cycle. Funding Information Successful applicants will receive a micro-grant ranging from $1,000 – $5,000 through the Greater New Orleans Foundation in August/September 2024 to fund their projects. Uses of funds  Funds may be used to cover all project related expenses such as materials, equipment, and community outreach activities. Eligibility Criteria  Open to applicants between the ages of 15-24 years old who reside in Orleans Parish and whose initiatives directly benefit the city of New Orleans. Other Eligibility Requirements: Proposed project application must be submitted by a youth-serving organization that can accept grant funds: Entity must have a 501c3  or fiscal sponsor Must have a bank account in its name and have ability to manage funds. The Conservancy may fund activities within or benefitting the Delta and Suisun Marsh as defined in Public Resources Code section 85058 (a map can be found at this link: https://www.deltacouncil.ca.gov/pdf/delta-plan/figure-1-1-delta-boundaries.pdf). The Conservancy may fund an action outside the Delta and Suisun Marsh if the Board makes all the findings described in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Reform Act of 2009 (CWC, div. 35, §§ 85000 – 85350). The Conservancy will fund planning projects, which include pilot projects. Allowable activities for planning projects include, but are not limited to, project scoping (partnership development, outreach to impacted parties, stakeholder coordination, negotiation of site access or land tenure); planning and design (engineering design, identifying appropriate best management practices); and environmental compliance (permitting, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) activities, Delta Plan consistency). The Conservancy will fund implementation projects, which include acquisition projects. Implementation projects are specific, on-the-ground projects that result in the construction, improvement, or acquisition of a capital asset that will be maintained for a minimum of 15 years. Implementation projects are "shovel-ready" projects. Applicants must submit a concept proposal, as found on the Conservancy’s website, before submitting a full proposal. Partnerships are encouraged but not required. There are no limitations on number of submissions by organizations. Applications are received via email for concept proposals and by uploading files to a designated site for full proposals.
