An eligible event is one that its main purpose for the attraction of tourists as evidenced by the promotion of the activity or event to tourists. A tourist is a person who participates in trade or recreation activities outside of the county of his or her residence, or who rents transient accommodations as provided in the Act. Funding information Applicants are able to request funds based on operating revenues reported in the organization’s last filed 990. The funding levels are as follows, with two exceptions as noted below: Annual budget over $1,000,000 Maximum Request 10% of budget Annual budget up to $ 999,999 Maximum Request 15% of budget Annual budget up to $ 499,999 Maximum Request 20% of budget Annual budget up to $ 199,999 Maximum Request 25% of budget Annual budget up to $ 100,000 Maximum Request 30% of budget The maximum request amount for an Educational Agency is $75,000.00 regardless of the number of program applications submitted. Educational Agencies that submit multiple applications are subject to the total award amount of $75,000.00. For applicants whose primary organizational purpose or mission is not to attract audience members, a separate event statement with direct expenses and revenues for the program is required. Funding request amounts will be based on that figure rather than the organizational budget. Grant Period For programs and activities occurring between October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025. Eligibility Criteria  Applicants must fulfill the following at the time of application. Be a legally established arts, nature or culture organization. The operations, events and activities must be within the boundaries of Alachua County. The proposed event has as one of its main purposes the attraction of tourists as evidenced by the promotion of the event to tourists. Have documented IRS non-profit, tax-exempt status. A copy of Active Status from Sunbiz.org must be attached to the application. Institutions of higher education are eligible to apply for arts, nature or culture programs and events, within the request limit. Applications will not be accepted from organizations who have applied for Tourist Development funding through the Gainesville Sports Commission, Sponsorships, Local Sports Destination Enhancement Grants and Conference Grants in the same year. Applications will not be accepted for organizations to re-grant or provide funding to individuals or other organizations. Priority Areas The project priority areas of the SCD Grant Program are: Sickle cell disease workforce development and education. Sickle cell disease treatment centers of excellence. Funding Information A total of $10 million may be awarded under this grant program to multiple recipients.  Grant Period September 1, 2024 – June 31, 2025. Uses of Grants Grant funds may be used for personnel, fringe benefits, travel, rent, communications, utilities, supplies, contractual services, advertising, print, educational materials, facility maintenance, and fixed capital outlay. Eligibility Criteria  The SCD Grant Program’s funding will be awarded to community-based sickle cell disease medical treatment and research centers operating in Florida. In addition, the following are applicable: All individuals, organizations, and agencies submitting an application for funding are advised that accepting state dollars under this RFA will require recipients’ compliance with all federal and state laws, executive orders, regulations, and policies governing these funds.  All vendors doing business with the State of Florida must have a completed W-9 on file with the Department of Financial Services. To be eligible to receive a grant, all corporations, limited liability companies, or partnerships, and their subcontractors/sub-recipients seeking to do business with the State shall be registered with the Florida Department of State in accordance with the provisions of Chapters 607, 608, 617, and 620, Florida Statutes. Project Requirements The proposal must explain and show how the applicant’s institution’s strategic priorities integrate the facility enhancement or the creation of a new center project. Demonstrate the organization’s experience and capacity for securing continued funding, contracting, and contract management. Describe the priorities for facility enhancement, including areas such as facility upgrades, service expansion, infrastructure, technology acquisition or upgrade, rehabilitation, engineering, facility equipping, facility site preparation, and construction. Projects focused on facility enhancement and the establishment of new centers must describe their establishment protocol or enhancement plan and management monitoring strategies.  Proposals for operations support for existing centers of excellence must emphasize an impact evaluation plan to measure health service utilization changes, outcomes and outcomes changes derived from the project implementation. Projects related to Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Centers of Excellence operations support must describe and demonstrate the current or proposed delivery model and benefits and be aligned with the Centers of Excellence concept. The EPA South Florida Program provides competitive grants to address the immediate and emerging ecological pressures and threats to south Florida waters including fresh waters, estuaries, bays, and coral reef, central to south Floridas economic and ecological wellbeing. Aquatic ecosystems play a vital role supporting healthy and resilient estuaries, coastal, inland, and near-shore infrastructure by providing food, habitat, nutrient removal, water filtration, storm attenuation, carbon storage, shoreline stabilization, and other financial and tangible benefits.This NOFO solicits applications for the South Florida Program region that includes the 16-county area covered by the South Florida Water Management District as well as the Florida Keys, Florida Reef Tract, Caloosahatchee Estuary, Indian River Lagoon, St. Lucie Estuary, Florida Bay, and Biscayne Bay. Please refer to the map located in Appendix D of the NOFO.This NOFO supports the Special Studies/Research component for the South Florida Program. Special Studies are projects that provide information specific to management questions and concerns, inform policy, and provide understanding of south Florida aquatic ecosystems. Examples of eligible projects include, but are not limited to: supporting monitoring, research, or innovative restoration efforts for key species (e.g. coral, seagrass, sponges, mangroves, etc); research, investigation, and demonstration projects to mitigate harmful algal blooms; residential canal pollution reduction demonstration projects; innovative stormwater pollution reduction demonstration projects; water quality and benthic habitat monitoring; research and management strategies to address contaminants of emerging concern; identifying and understanding cause-effect relationships of pollutants in the environment; addressing specific management questions to protect sensitive ecosystems; applying innovative approaches, methods, or techniques to prevent, treat, and manage pollution from entering waterbodies; and investigating regional water quality impacts from pollution sources.
