The Berkeley FILM Foundation is interested in short, fiction films that use creative, thoughtful and innovative methods to tell a story with a strong theme of social or environmental justice. The review committee will be judging films based on originality, imagination and technical skill. Types of Grants  BFF has two tiers of grants available to filmmakers in the Narrative Film Grant Program: special awards and general grants. General Grants  General grants awarded will range between $5,000 – $10,000. The amount of the award will be determined by several aspects of the application including (but not limited to) the line items outlined in the project budget, the intended use of the grant, the stage of the project you are in and the team behind the project. If you receive less money than you asked for, it is usually because they have run low on allocated funds but want to support the project for its creativity or cultural or social relevancy and BFF’s small grant will help inspire other organizations to give larger amounts. The Saul Zaentz Awards: Two separate $25,000 grants This has historically been the Berkeley FILM Foundation’s highest award given each year and is the most prestigious. This is the first year they are introducing a second Saul Zaentz Award for $25,000. These films are chosen during final deliberation of the review committee and these films will embody the mission and purpose of the organization and its commitment to social justice. The grants are named after world-renowned film producer, Saul Zaentz, who was an original founder of the Berkeley FILM Foundation. Eligible Genre Short Form Narratives (40 minutes or less). Additionally, the nominator should explain why they believe the nominee is prioritizing equity and describe their potential to realize scale. Applicants can be of any age, but must be in the early stages of their careers as fiction writers and will not have had the support needed to achieve major recognition for their work. They define “emerging writer” as someone who has not yet had a novel or short story collection published by either a major or independent publisher, and who is also not currently under contract to a publisher for a work of fiction. Eligible applicants may have had stories or novel excerpts published in magazines, literary journals or online, but this is not a requirement. NRCS is announcing the availability of Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) State Program funding to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Applications are accepted from eligible entities (Section C) for projects carried out in the state of New York A total of up to $500,000 is available for the New York CIG competition in FY 2024. All non-Foreign, non-federal entities (NFE) and individuals are invited to apply, with the sole exception of federal agencies. Projects may be between one and three years in duration. Each grant is limited to $500, and applicants may be receiving treatment within or outside the region as long as they live locally.

Grant Opportunity: Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Program Description: The HOPWA program provides housing assistance and supportive services for low-income individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. The County of Rockland, funded by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, offers tenant-based rental assistance (TBRA) and support services to eligible individuals diagnosed with HIV infection or AIDS. The goal is to help these households secure and maintain appropriate housing in Rockland County. Funder: NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Award Details: HOPWA rental subsidies (TBRA) will be combined with shelter allowance subsidies from the Rockland County Department of Social Services to maximize funding utilization. TBRA subsidies will be provided along with legal and counseling services, similar to the Section 8 Housing Voucher Choice program. Eligible households must meet the definition of "low-income" set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Medically appropriate and documented cases may qualify for a greater number of bedrooms than in the Section 8 program.
