This program provides funding to Tribal Colleges and Universities to support research projects that address important issues for tribal communities, enhance research capabilities, and engage students in scientific work.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) National Workforce Strategy (WIC Workforce National Strategy), is part of a joint agency initiative between the U.S. Department of Agricultures (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) that is expected to cultivate comprehensive and sustained solutions for WIC workforce development. The joint agency initiative aims to strengthen the diversity and cultural competency of the WIC workforce, with the ultimate goals of increasing: 1) WIC participation through reaching those populations that are eligible, but not enrolled; and 2) WIC participants use of benefits and services, including nutrition education and breastfeeding support. NIFA requires that applications for WIC Workforce Implementation Projects respond to and implement components of the National WIC Workforce Strategy. They should assess and address regional and national priorities, target critical workforce needs, and increase the diversity and cultural competency of the WIC workforce.

FY 2024 WIC General Infrastructure Grants will support WIC State agencies as they continue to modernize the program. Projects will support WIC Infrastructure, including technological, digital, partnership, and/or outreach infrastructure at the State agency level through activities related to outreach, innovation, program modernization, and increased equity in program access through four Tracks/objectives. This RFA includes four application Tracks, each with one Objective. The four Tracks include:1) Updating the State agencys management information system (MIS) and/or electronic benefit transfer (EBT) system to meet new Federal requirements.*Please see notes in the Tracks and Objectives section below for information about State agency model (SAM) user groups. 2) Enhancing the State agencys MIS, EBT system, and/or other technology used to provide WIC benefits and services. These enhancements must provide a better user experience for WIC applicants, participants, and staff and/or to improve longevity, flexibility, program integrity, and/or cost efficiency.3) Increasing WIC awareness among the public through adoption of new WIC branding and/or the conduct of partnership and/or outreach activities.4) Upgrading State and/or local agency technology equipment and/or supplies to improve WIC performance, security, and/or user experience (including by optimizing virtual services). Each Application Submitted Must be for Only One Track. State agencies may apply for one or more of the Tracks outlined above but are limited to one Track per application. For each Track, State agencies may apply either as an individual applicant or as the lead of a multi-State agency collaboration. Any lead of a multi-State agency collaboration will be considered the applicant and the funded recipient (i.e., the grantee). In 2021, the California state legislature appropriated $3 million in funding to the Department to develop a Wolf-Livestock Compensation Pilot Program to help minimize the impact of gray wolves on livestock producers. The pilot program offers compensation to eligible livestock producers specific to the following primary areas of need (prongs):  Prong 1. Direct Loss - Compensation for verified livestock losses (confirmed/probable wolf) incurred on or after September 23, 2021. Prong 2. Nonlethal Deterrents - Compensation for the use of nonlethal deterrence methods to deter wolf presence near livestock. The Department supports the use of various deterrent tools and techniques as part of a robust, integrated deterrence strategy. Technical assistance may be available through CDFW, County Agricultural Commissions, UC Cooperative Extension, USDA Wildlife Service, and other agency partners. Prong 3. Pay for Presence - Compensation for indirect losses associated with the impacts of wolf presence on livestock in known pack territory. Extenuating circumstances may exist whereby CDFW will consider eligibility for wolf presence outside of known pack territory on a case-by-case basis.

The Employment Development Department (EDD) announces the availability of up to  $100,000. Wagner-Peyser 10 percent Governor's Discretionary funds for Campesino de California Outreach Grant-Radio Media (CCOG-RM) Program Year 2024-25 (PY 24-25) available through this Solicitation for Proposals (SFP). The EDD anticipates funding one organization for the CCOG-RM PY 24-25 grant opportunity.  The purpose of the program is to create and broadcast 24 semi-monthly, 30-minute hosted radio talk show programs in Spanish and recorded in video format media. Additionally, the awardee must create complementing media posts to publish on its website and use social media outlets to publicize the radio talk show videos and communicate additional information as necessary. Eligible applicants for the CCOG-RM PY 24-25 SFP include public and private non-profit organizations, education institutions, community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations.
