The Rural Housing Service (RHS) announces a notice in funding availability under its Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program. The HPG program is a grant program which provides qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, which may include but not be limited to, Faith-Based and Community Organizations, and other eligible entities grant funds to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. In addition, the HPG program assists rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes in repairing and rehabilitating their units if they agree to make such units available to low- and very low-income persons. This action is taken to comply with Agency regulations found in 7 CFR part 1944, subpart N, which require the Agency to announce the opening and closing dates for receipt of preapplications for HPG funds from eligible applicants. Approximately $2.2 million of FY2024 funding is available for disaster assistance ($50,000 maximum award). Preapplications for disaster assistance grants may be utilized for calendar year 2022 presidentially declared disaster area(s) only (2022 presidentially declared disaster areas can be viewed at https://www.fema.gov/disaster/declarations).

About the Fund The Dane G. Hansen Foundation of Logan, KS, partners with the Greater Salina Community Foundation (GSCF) and the Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation (GNWKCF) to help improve the quality of life for communities in 26 counties of Northwest Kansas. GSCF and 11 of its affiliate foundations are allocated funding for grants to distribute to 14 counties for charitable projects through a competitive application process. What do the funds support? Grants will be awarded to projects or programs that address the following areas: Education: Enhances the learning environment and expands opportunities for students. Provides increased self-reliance on personal life skills and workforce capability. Health Care: Ensures access to quality health services and promotes healthy life practices. Community Social Services & Security: Enhance access to social services needed for individuals of special needs and supports systems to provide community disaster relief and general community emergencies. The Recipient will: Provide personnel to run the daily operation of the museum (Sunday 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m., Monday Saturday 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.) year around during normal hours of operation (excluding posted holiday closures) Provide one full-time general maintenance and three part-time operations personnel. Provide services, including but not limited, interpretive services, welcome and sign-in visitors, coordinate event scheduling, and assist with running special events. Opening and closing the museum to coincide with the posted hours of operation. Assist with scheduling volunteers for front desk operation and provide museum tours. Assist with recruiting and training of new volunteers. Provide general minor facility maintenance, including but not limited to:o Maintaining and ensuring a clean, neat, and presentable appearance at all times for the public, etc.;o Performing minor maintenance for the interior and exterior building, motor vessel, and river model.o Coordinates the ongoing maintenance and repairs. Responsible for the security of any keys issued. Maintain communication with the District regarding all accidents and incidents occurring on museum property. Maintain the daily visitation logs and provide available information to the public. May be required to lift up to 15 lbs. on an occasional basis.
