In September 2022, the U.S. Departments of Energy, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency executed an historic memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the signatory agencies to accelerate our nations affordable and equitable clean transportation future.1 As a result of the comprehensive decarbonization strategy called for in the MOU, those agencies issued the U.S. National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization, which set the goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions in the transportation sector including off-road equipment by 20502. The Transition to net-zero emission technologies requires coordination among all aspects of the supply chain, including feedstock supply, alternative fuel production, equipment manufacturers, safety implementation, customer demand, and government regulation. To develop a national strategy to decarbonize the sector, three critical questions must be addressed: 1. What is the current state of the off-road vehicle fleet? 2. Which powertrain technologies are most promising for decarbonization of off-road vehicles? 3. What is the timeline for the off-road sector to transition to net-zero emission GHG technologies? Off-road vehicles are primarily designed to operate away from existing roadways. This category contains a disparate and very diverse set of vehicles and use cases, including construction and mining equipment, industrial equipment, agriculture equipment, lawn and garden equipment, and recreational vehicles.1 The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to understand the off-road sector alternative propulsion technology preferences, which technologies seem most promising, and what are the key barriers to achieving the transition to net-zero emissions by 2050. The propulsion technologies under consideration for this RFI are: biodiesel, renewable diesel, renewable natural gas, battery electric, direct electrification (catenary), electric hybridization, hydrogen fueled internal combustion engines and hydrogen fuel cells. Currently, no one alternative propulsion technology is a clear choice for sector decarbonization. This RFI is an attempt to aggregate knowledge from stakeholders to help guide actions regarding future propulsion technologies, research and infrastructure investments, and coordination among key stakeholders to ensure that the off-road sector is meeting or exceeding U.S. decarbonization milestones. Subtopic AOI 2a: Re-equip an existing industrial or manufacturing facility with equipment designed to substantially reduce the GHG emissions of that facility. LIHEAP provides energy assistance to households in Washington through a network of community action agencies and local partners. These local organizations will help determine your eligibility and how much assistance you might receive. If you qualify, your local LIHEAP agency will send a payment directly to your energy utility on behalf of your household. LIHEAP primarily assists households by making an energy assistance grant directly to the energy provider on behalf of the eligible household. LIHEAP may also help repair or replace an unsafe, dysfunctional, and inoperative heating or cooling system in some situations. Households eligible for LIHEAP may also qualify to have their homes made more energy efficient through the Weatherization Program. The amount of money awarded to your household will depend on multiple factors. For example, each householdโs size, income and annual heat cost will affect the amount of their LIHEAP grant. Youโll have to schedule a LIHEAP appointment with the provider in your community to find out how much you could receive.

The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energyโs (NE) mission is to advance nuclear energy science and technology to meet United States (U.S.) energy, environmental, and economic needs. NE has identified the following goals to address challenges in the nuclear energy sector, to help realize the potential of advanced technology, and to leverage the unique role of the Government in spurring innovation: 1. Enable continued operation of existing U.S. nuclear reactors. 2. Enable deployment of advanced nuclear reactors. 3. Develop advanced nuclear fuel cycles and spent nuclear fuel management options. NE strives to promote integrated and collaborative research conducted by national laboratory, university, industry, and international partners under the direction of NEโs programs, and to deploy innovative nuclear energy technologies to the market and to optimize the benefits of nuclear energy. The explanatory statement accompanying Division D of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 reads as follows: โSection 311 of the agreement provides up to $100,000,000 to implement a new nuclear safety training program. The Department is directed to make one or more cost-shared awards not later than 180 days after enactment of this Act. The program shall require cost share of at least 50 percent of the total program costs. The cost share must come from nonfederal sources unless otherwise allowed by law. In implementing the program, the Department shall give priority to universities located within 50 miles of reactors that were constructed prior to 1980 and have had significant safety issues in the last five decades. A successful applicant shall have clearly defined goals and objectives; identify and address the gap between available skilled workers and the demand for the training program; and lead to an industry recognized nuclear reactor safety credential to meet demand.โ This Request for Information (RFI)/Notice of Intent (NOI) is used solely for information capture and planning purposes and does not constitute a DOE solicitation, nor does it relate to any current solicitation. The program's theory of change posits that by investing in both the physical maintenance of green infrastructure and the human capital required to sustain it, the District can achieve lasting environmental benefits and create valuable socio-economic opportunities.
