This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites applications for Diabetes Research Centers (DRCs) that are designed to support and enhance the national research effort in diabetes, its complications, and related endocrine and metabolic diseases. The purpose of this Centers program is to bring together basic and clinical investigators to enhance communication, multidisciplinary collaboration, and effectiveness of ongoing research in Diabetes Research Center topic areas. By providing shared access to specialized technical resources (research cores) and supporting a Pilot and Feasibility Program (P and F), DRCs are intended to create an environment that provides the capability for accomplishments greater than those that would be possible by individual research project grant support alone. New Center programs that bring in diverse perspectives, propose unique scientific themes, or provide innovative resources are encouraged. Emphasis will be placed on Center programs that propose enhanced synergies with other NIDDK-funded programs as well as providing a rich mentoring environment for future diabetes researchers. This NOFO requires a Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP), which will be assessed as part of the scientific and technical peer review evaluation. Applications that fail to include a PEDP will be considered incomplete and will be withdrawn. The goal of the project is to develop a bottom-up mechanistic PBPK model for these two LAI categories by accounting for the influence of critical formulation attributes of each LAI drug product type to predict its in vivo release mechanism. The model formulation parameters and relevant physiology should be informed with suitable in vitro and in vivo experiments. A suitable preclinical animal model can be used to validate the PBPK model based IVIVCs for both LAI suspensions and polymer based implants. The use of PBPK modelling provides a unique opportunity to understand how the physicochemical properties of drug molecules/polymer, implant specific properties, critical formulation attributes, and physiology, among other things, influence the in vivo release mechanisms of LAI drug products and their disposition characteristics. Moreover, once developed, a mechanistic PBPK model can help to define the 'safe space' for critical formulation attributes relevant to the reference listed drug (RLD) product, explain sources of PK variability and extrapolate predictions to human subjects by leveraging animal model data and by accounting for species-specific physiological differences.

A single event.  General Programming Support (GPS) Funding is for any applicant, regardless of the intent of its charter, to offset the expense of presenting major, on-going arts programs. These programs should have their own mission and goals and contain multiple events or activities. These activities could include a series of concerts, history lecture or other multiple events throughout the year and is distinguished from Special Projects by having multiple events rather than a single activity within a calendar year.  General Operating Support (GOS) This funding is for applicants whose charter is primarily arts or history related. It is designed to provide general operating support for groups that increase exposure to art/history in the community. This would include, but is not limited to community theater groups, dance companies, museums or galleries, orchestras, and singing groups who exist primarily to create and/or perform art or history projects. General Operating Support funding is more stringent in its requirements and more detail is required in substantiating fiscal responsibility.
