We intend for the funded project to create a National Coordinating Center to connect health and human service professionals with qualified health language interpreters and translators to improve access to language services for individuals limited English proficiency. The funded project will develop technical components needed to host the Center, connect and engage a collaborative network of community-based organizations, and promote the Center nationally to health and human service organizations and agencies. During Fiscal Year 2024, OMH is developing a universal symbol that will indicate the availability of language assistance services. We intend for funded projects to demonstrate the effectiveness of the universal symbol in raising awareness and prompting individuals to request language assistance services in health settings.
