A. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The U.S. Embassy Seoul Public Diplomacy Section (PD) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications for programs that promote themes related to economic security, supply chains, quality and sustainable infrastructure, clean energy transition and responsible use of emerging technologies. This Notice of Funding Opportunity builds upon the theme of the 2024 Summit for Democracy, Democracy for Future Generations, hosted this year by the Republic of Korea. The Summit for Democracy is a global initiative that highlights the critical role of democracy, transparency, and inclusivity in tackling the worlds most pressing challenges. Successful proposals must include an American element or connection with American experts, organizations, or institutions in a field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policies and perspectives. Proposals may include requests for international travel and related costs of experts, speakers, and key individuals in support of broader activities. However, participant exchanges should not be the exclusive program activity. Embassy Seoul strongly encourages proposals that include substantial outreach in areas outside of the Seoul Metropolitan region. Program activities should take place primarily in the Republic of Korea. Programs in the United States and/or third countries will only be considered with extremely strong justification and/or significant cost sharing (including but not limited to travel expenses and in-kind contributions). Virtual components may be considered to supplement activities within Korea. Program Area 1) Promoting Economic Security in the Indo-Pacific Region The Indo-Pacific region is pivotal in shaping global economic security landscapes. Understanding the key themes and strategic importance of multilateral agreements and frameworks in this region is crucial for informed decision-making and policy development. Objective: Embassy Seoul seeks proposals that: Increase understanding of critical economic security themes in the Indo-Pacific region. Analyze the benefits of strategic frameworks and agreements for economic security. Target Audience: International trade and economic security experts from the academic, think tank, government, and private sectors. Expected activities: Workshops and seminars, Policy briefings, Public awareness activities. Program Area 2) Leveraging Emerging Technologies to Tackle Global Challenges Emerging technologies, such as AI and climate technology, hold significant potential in addressing pressing global challenges like climate change, disinformation, and the transformation of traditional trade markets. Harnessing these technologies, when done responsibly, can lead to innovative solutions and a more sustainable future. Objective: Embassy Seoul seeks proposals that: Promote the use of advanced technologies to address global challenges. Foster knowledge sharing between tech experts and diverse audiences. Explore tangible applications of emerging technology in areas like carbon emission reduction, combating disinformation, and transforming e-commerce. Target Audience: Climate tech experts, policymakers, industry leaders, e-commerce experts, SMEs, and ROK youth groups involved in AI, web/app development, data science, programming, entrepreneurship, and machine learning. Expected activities: Workshops, hackathons, mentorship programs, training. The Transitional Living Program (TLP) provides safe, stable, and appropriate shelter for runaway and homeless youth ages 16 to under 22 for up to 18 months and, under extenuating circumstances, can be extended to 21 months. TLPs provide comprehensive services that supports the transition of homeless youth to self-sufficiency and stable, independent living. Through the provision of shelter and an array of comprehensive services, TLP youth will realize improvements in four core outcome areas (i.e., safe and stable housing, education/employment, permanent connections, and social and emotional well-being).

With this solicitation, OVC seeks to award a 36-month cooperative agreement to one lead organization that will (1) fund (through a competitive process) subawards to communities severely affected by violence to establish trauma recovery centers , and (2) provide technical assistance to the subawardees to support operation of the centers. The trauma recovery centers funded under this demonstration project will address crime victimization and support access to victims compensation, crime victims rights enforcement, trauma recovery, and healing. Subawardees will be expected to design centers to provide services to crime victims who traditionally do not seek victims services, assistance, or counseling, or are historically underserved. This demonstration is intended to span 5 years (60 months total) via an initial 3-year budget allocation under this solicitation, with the potential for noncompetitive continuation funding as the project moves from year 3 to year 5 of its implementation.

The Robert G. Campbell Community Fund is a permanent, unrestricted charitable endowment aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens of Iowa County, WI. Reissue of RFA-NS-18-019: Understanding the dynamic activity of neural circuits is central to the NIH BRAIN Initiative. The invention, proof-of-concept investigation, and optimization of new technologies through iterative feedback from end users are key components of the BRAIN Initiative. This FOA seeks applications to optimize existing or emerging technologies through iterative testing with end users. The technologies and approaches should have potential to address major challenges associated with recording and modulation (including various modalities for stimulation/activation, inhibition and manipulation) of cells (i.e., neuronal and non-neuronal) and networks to enable transformative understanding of dynamic signaling in the central nervous system (CNS). These technologies and approaches should have previously demonstrated their transformative potential through initial proof-of-concept testing and are now ready for accelerated refinement. In conjunction, the manufacturing techniques should be scalable towards sustainable, broad dissemination and user-friendly incorporation into regular neuroscience research.Proposed technologies should be compatible with experiments in behaving animals, validated under in vivo experimental conditions, and capable of reducing major barriers to conducting neurobiological experiments and making new discoveries about the CNS. Technologies may engage diverse types of signaling beyond neuronal electrical activity such as optical, electrical, magnetic, acoustic or genetic recording/manipulation. Applications that seek to integrate multiple approaches are encouraged. If suitable, applications are expected to integrate appropriate domains of expertise, including biological, chemical and physical sciences, engineering, computational modeling and statistical analysis.

The purpose of the NIH Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) is to provide support and protected time (three to five years) for an intensive, supervised career development experience in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences leading to research independence. Although all of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) use this support mechanism to support career development experiences that lead to research independence, some ICs use the K01 award for individuals who propose to train in a new field or for individuals who have had a hiatus in their research career because of illness or pressing family circumstances. Other ICs offer separate K01 FOAs intended to increase research workforce diversity.
