Recipients may use YEP! funding to either create new programs or expand existing programs that are already offered. This Special Project funding is intended to allow, for example, a civic organization to present a music program as part of its annual holiday celebration; a social organization to mount an exhibit; or the local center to stage a theatrical performance. A single event.  General Programming Support (GPS) Funding is for any applicant, regardless of the intent of its charter, to offset the expense of presenting major, on-going arts programs. These programs should have their own mission and goals and contain multiple events or activities. These activities could include a series of concerts, history lecture or other multiple events throughout the year and is distinguished from Special Projects by having multiple events rather than a single activity within a calendar year.  General Operating Support (GOS) This funding is for applicants whose charter is primarily arts or history related. It is designed to provide general operating support for groups that increase exposure to art/history in the community. This would include, but is not limited to community theater groups, dance companies, museums or galleries, orchestras, and singing groups who exist primarily to create and/or perform art or history projects. General Operating Support funding is more stringent in its requirements and more detail is required in substantiating fiscal responsibility. Eligible Expenses  The following expenses are eligible: Salaries and wages Contracted services/outside fees and services Printing, publicity, marketing Postage and telephone Fundraising and development Staff training/capacity building Lease expenses Mortgage interest Equipment purchase, installation, and lease (e.g., computers, office furnishings, files) Utilities and HVAC (purchase, installation, and operational costs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) Maintenance of collections and the interiors of structures (Note: Interior construction is not considered maintenance and is not an eligible expense.) Basic grounds maintenance Travel and transportation (automobile travel @$.31/mile, train, or air coach travel) Insurance Licensing and registration fees (e.g., New Jersey charities registration) Planning for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Long-term and strategic planning Eligiblity Criteria An applicant may apply for grant funding from the Arts and/or History under three categories. Those categories are: General Operating Support, Special Project or General Programming Support. The applying organization must be located within Cape May County to receive General Operating Support. The Foundation is seeking requests to directly provide emergency services and assistance that address the most basic of human needs of Greater Hartford residents. Examples of emergency services and assistance might include one or more of the following: Food or food assistance Emergency clothing needs (e.g., shoes, school uniforms, coats) Personal care items (e.g., deodorant, diapers, sanitary products) Emergency financial assistance (e.g., rent and/or mortgage assistance and utility expense assistance, childcare assistance, bus fare/tokens, gas money) Emergency medical aid or immediate expense assistance (e.g., dental, medical, mental health supports, and prescription expenses) Aftercare programs for victims of domestic violence Emergency and/or informal case management services. Funding Information The Foundation welcomes requests of $1,000-$15,000 for individual projects and up to $20,000 for collaborative projects for items and/or services to be provided during a one-year time-period. Eligibility Criteria  Applications must be submitted by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Community groups can use an organization with a 501(c)(3) designation as a fiscal sponsor. Nonprofits may serve as a fiscal sponsor for multiple projects.  Both the organization and program in the application should be in existence for at least one year prior to applying.  If your organization is named as a direct beneficiary in a collaboration grant that was awarded in Round 1, your organization is now ineligible to receive a grant in Round 2.  A nonprofit or community group can only submit one application for one project or program each round for consideration. If you received a grant in July, you are not eligible to receive a grant in November.  If a nonprofit organization or community group is currently the recipient of a multi-year core or project/program support from the Foundation you are ineligible for this opportunity (excluding those serving as a fiscal agent for another applicant).  To increase funding equity, applicants are eligible to receive a Basic Human Needs Emergency Assistance grant based on a “3 years on 1 year off policy”. Grantees are eligible to receive a grant for three consecutive years and will be ineligible the 4th year. Applicants will then be eligible to apply after year 4th. Organizations subject to this RFP’s 3 years on 1 year off policy are organizations reporting an average annual operating budget of $2.5 million or more. Exceptions might apply to organizations whose primary purpose or mission is to increase food security. The 3 years on 1 year off policy applies to 2022 BHN Emergency Assistance grantees. Requests from the Foundation’s entire service area will be considered.
