The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is the component of the U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing by the nations state, local, territorial, and tribal law enforcement agencies through information and grant resources. The COPS Office is pleased to announce that it is seeking applications for funding for the FY24 CPD Accreditation: Supporting Law Enforcement Agencies in Seeking Accreditation program. Community Policing Development (CPD) funds are used to develop the capacity of law enforcement to implement community policing strategies by providing guidance on promising practices through the development and testing of innovative strategies; building knowledge about effective practices and outcomes; and supporting new, creative approaches to preventing crime and promoting safe communities. FY24 Supporting Law Enforcement Agencies in Seeking Accreditation program will grant CPD funding directly to state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement agencies to support costs related to obtaining law enforcement accreditation from an existing accreditation entity.

This funding opportunity provides up to $100,000 to law enforcement agencies for enhancing safety and compliance in off-highway vehicle recreation areas through the purchase of specialized equipment and tools.

Eligibility Criteria Applicants are only allowed to submit one application per grant cycle. The Art and Change Grant is not for organizations, corporations, or fundraising activities. The Art and Change Grant cannot be used for activities completed prior to when the grant is announced. The Art and Change Grant is not intended to support the creation of residencies, apprenticeships, and/or retreats unless it is clear how it will (1) move the applicant’s own artistic practice forward and (2) engage the community-at-large with a socially engaged project. Police Accountability, Community, and Transparency Grant support law enforcement agencies across the State of Maryland with the development of effective accountability procedures to achieve their goals of lawfulness and legitimacy while enhancing community relations and transparency. Funds are intended to increase safety and training for law enforcement, and promote safe communities and encourage community engagement between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The purpose of the FY 2023 Child Sex Trafficking Screening and Services Act Regional Navigator Program Grant (RNPG-ARPA) grant funding is to expand programming projects in up to 14 additional jurisdictions. The RNPG Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) was developed to obtain needed services to comply with the Child Sex Trafficking Screening and Services Act of 2019. U.S. Department of Treasury establishes eligibility criteria that must be met by all organizations that receive RNPG-ARPA funds. The Sexual Assault Services Program provides intervention, advocacy, accompaniment (i.e., accompanying victims to court, medical facilities, police departments, etc.), support services, and related assistance for adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault, family and household members of victims, and those collaterally affected by the sexual assault. SASP, created by the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005, 42 U.S.C. §14043g, is the first federal funding stream solely dedicated to the provision of direct intervention and related assistance for victims of sexual assault. SASP provides intervention, advocacy, accompaniment (i.e., accompanying victims to court, medical facilities, police departments, etc.), support services, and related assistance for adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault, family and household members of victims, and those collaterally affected by the sexual assault. Rape crisis centers play a vital role in assisting sexual assault victims through the healing process, as well as assisting victims through the medical, criminal justice, and other social support systems. In order to provide comprehensive services to victims of sexual assault, SASP assists states in supporting rape crisis centers in the provision of direct intervention and related assistance.

This grant aims to supplement police protection resources in local communities through a formula-driven funding program. It supports operational costs of local police agencies, sharing costs between the State and its municipalities based on population factors and previous year's operational costs​​.

The program supports full service sexual assault crisis programs across Maryland, providing services to victims of rape and sexual offenses. It aims to improve victim services, ensuring safety, and making the community aware of rights and resources​​. The Sexual Assault/Rape Crisis Grant Program is funded through state general funds to support local rape crisis centers. Services are provided through a network of community-based rape crisis programs and are available in every jurisdiction in Maryland. These funds are used to provide services to adult and child victims of rape and other sexual offenses. Services to victims include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, medical accompaniment, and assistance in accessing and using other support services such as legal assistance.

The program, with a funding availability of $3.5 million, is designed to enhance the testing of sexual assault kits to aid in the prosecution and investigation of sexual assault cases. It supports both the Maryland State Police and local law enforcement agencies, focusing on kits collected since May 1, 2018, to help improve victim services and address the backlog of untested kits​​.

The International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Kyiv is inviting non-for-profit organizations to submit proposals for programs aimed at providing critical support to Ukraine's law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in their pursuit of investigating, prosecuting and adjudicating war crimes committed by Russian federation and bringing perpetrators of the grave atrocities to accountability. This may include providing expert and mentoring assistance to prosecutors and investigators of Ukraine, offering specialized training modules to enhance their skills in handling complex cases, conducting activities aimed at advancing the rule of law and fair trial in the newly de-occupied territories and increasing societys awareness about adjudication of the war criminals. The initiative also seeks to foster international cooperation by facilitating partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations, encouraging the exchange of best practices and collaborative strategies in the pursuit of justice. Additionally, the program also seeks assistance in documenting efforts, employing cutting-edge open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques and IT solutions to gather and analyze information crucial for building strong legal cases. Through these comprehensive activities, the program aims to fortify Ukraine's legal infrastructure, empowering its authorities to pursue accountability for war crimes and uphold the principles of international humanitarian law.
