Block Grant: Subawards to provide additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice projects. The Edward JAG Formula Grant Program is a partnership among federal, state and local governments, and non-profit organizations to create safer communities and improve criminal justice systems. The JAG program, created by the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988 (Public Law 100-690), emphasizes controlling violent and drug-related crime and serious offenders, and fosters multi-jurisdictional and multi-state efforts to support national drug-control policies. This grant program provides funding for projects which assist local and state government and non-profit agencies in their efforts to reduce violent crime and illegal drug activities, improve the criminal justice system and support local, state and national priorities.

These analysts capabilities and performance on such tasks can be expanded and augmented through intelligent systems or information agents leveraging technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs) or through additional information gained from social media and social networking platforms. However, such human-agent teaming approaches can lead to the emergence of new biases and challenges surrounding the reliability of such judgments made to accept/reject each piece of information being processed. These phenomena reside at the conscious and subconscious levels, further expounding the challenges to understand their impact on judgment formation.This RFI seeks to elicit interdisciplinary perspectives on the judgment formation process in the context of analysts being embedded in larger communities and inundated with algorithmically driven information.

The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to assess and quantify the environmental impacts of criminal organizations activities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This project will provide a wholistic picture of what crimes affect the environment, who perpetrates them, the resulting harms, and how they fit into the overall network of transnational organized crime and drug trafficking in the Western Hemisphere. United States’ climate and environment diplomacy aspires to realize economic growth, energy security, and a healthy planet. The well-being of the natural world affects millions of U.S. jobs and the health of our people, and so the Department of State works with partners to advance U.S. interests on issues such as addressing the climate crisis, combating wildlife trafficking, fostering resilience, conserving nature, ensuring water security, and reducing harmful pollutants. This project aligns to INL’s Bureau Objective 3.2 to ensure foreign partner civilian security institutions have the institutional capacity to manage borders and protect sovereign territory. Civilian security institutions often lead or are involved in the effective management of land and maritime borders, as well as contribute to a stable international security environment by deterring territorial incursions or the unlawful exploitation of natural resources that have the potential to escalate into regional conflict. This objective includes INL’s efforts to build institutional capacity related to certain specialized law enforcement functions, border management, maritime law enforcement, and efforts related to peacekeeping.

A disproportionate number of Native Americans, people of color, refugees, immigrants, and rural Americans are living in crisis—or just a paycheck away from it. Nationally, six in 10 families of color don’t have the cash on hand to cover basic expenses—like rent, medical emergencies, or the need to fix a car—for three months.

This grant provides financial support to small, tax-exempt organizations in the U.S. that are working on grassroots initiatives to promote economic, environmental, and social justice for marginalized communities.
