Shooting Range Improvement Grants Program
$30,000
Pennsylvania Game Commission
State

Application Deadline

Sep 1, 2024

Date Added

Jul 24, 2024

The Pennsylvania Shooting Range Improvement Grant Program (SRIP), managed by the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC), aims to provide financial support for the state's aging shooting range infrastructure. The program's core mission aligns with the PGC's pride in Pennsylvania's hunting and shooting heritage, seeking to ensure a bright future for the next generation of hunters and shooters by revitalizing existing facilities and creating opportunities for increased access. This initiative is a strategic move to foster community engagement and support for shooting sports. The target beneficiaries of the SRIP grant are existing shooting ranges, shooting clubs, recreational shooting organizations, archery clubs, and education groups that can demonstrate public use of their facilities. Retail ranges are explicitly excluded. The program's impact goals include increasing public access to private and club-type facilities, enhancing the availability and quality of shooting ranges for the public, improving public safety and environmental stewardship, and bolstering facilities for the Pennsylvania Hunter-Trapper Education Program. A key priority is also to provide funding to facilities that have not previously received grants, thereby broadening the reach of support. The program focuses on bringing life into aging infrastructure and creating opportunities for new members. This is achieved through a tiered funding structure (Tier One, Tier Two, and Tier Three) based on grant amount and project useful life, with each tier having specific deliverables. These deliverables include PGC signage of program funding, a certain number of youth field days or hunter/shooter education classes, and a specified number of public days per calendar year for matches, tournaments, sight-in days, or open house events. Eligible projects include rifle, handgun, shotgun, skeet, trap, and archery ranges, which should be designed to established industry standards or mirror PGC state game land ranges. Expected outcomes and measurable results are directly tied to the program's goals and deliverables. For example, increased public days directly measure enhanced public access, while the number of youth field days and hunter/shooter education classes demonstrate an enhancement of educational opportunities. The program anticipates increased use of state lands, decreased firearms-related vandalism, local citizen support and appreciation, increased generated funds for ranges, and enhanced user support of hunting and shooting sports. These outcomes collectively contribute to the PGC's strategic priority of preserving and promoting the state's outdoor heritage through accessible and well-maintained facilities.

Having in place a secure and effective system for warning and informing the public of impending natural and man-made disasters is an essential part of America's emergency preparedness. FEMAs Integrated Public Alert Warning System (IPAWS) is the national system for local alerting that provides authenticated emergency and life-saving information to the public. Local radio and TV stations, along with cable, direct broadcast satellite, and wireless service providers disseminate the public safety messages they receive from IPAWS. This grant supports projects that aid in creating and maintaining a resilient public alert and warning system that provides timely and effective warnings, especially including areas that are traditionally underserved by broadcast providers. This public alert and warning system is built on the Common Alerting Protocol standard (CAP) that permits a single CAP compatible message to activate multiple compliant warning systems and a stations ability to maintain continuity of operations during emergencies. The Next Generation Warning System includes all available radio and television technology in the alert and warning ecosystem to expand and enhance emergency information dissemination to the public. The grant is intended to replace aging infrastructure to enhance alerting capabilities, improve resiliency, operational continuity, and security through new technology for qualified rural, tribal, and other stations who support underserved public broadcast audiences. Broadcasters may use funding to replace aging equipment and improve cybersecurity hygiene. This program supports investments that improve resiliency, continuity of broadcast operations, and security of public broadcasting networks and systems. In addition, broadcasters may upgrade to the Advanced Television Systems Committee broadcast standard (ATSC 3.0) or digital radio, allowing broadcasts to reach a greater number of different types of communication devices, incorporating multimedia in alert and warning messaging, and making alerts more accessible. Applicants can submit applications for this funding opportunity through FEMA Grants Outcomes (GO). Access the system at https://go.fema.gov/.

Riverton Charitable Fund
$20,000
Community Foundation of the Lowcountry
Private

Application Deadline

May 15, 2024

Date Added

May 3, 2024

The Riverton Charitable Fund (RCF) has announced a new 2024 grant opportunity, established in 2021 in collaboration with the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. RCF's mission is to foster charitable interests among Riverton Pointe residents, members, and friends to enhance community spirit and leverage resources for greater impact. This grant program directly aligns with the foundation's mission by providing a structured avenue for giving that benefits the local community, specifically Jasper County. The program's purpose is to provide grants that assist neighbors in Jasper County, respond to those in need, and offer resources to improve residents' lives, reflecting a clear commitment to local well-being and community development. The target beneficiaries for this grant program are families and individuals in Jasper County who are affected by poverty. The impact goals are to address the challenges of poverty by focusing on critical areas such as food insecurity, education, and community support. By providing grants to qualified area non-profits, RCF aims to create tangible improvements in the lives of these residents. The program is designed to be a direct response to identified community needs, with a clear intention to uplift and support the most vulnerable populations within Jasper County. The priorities and focuses of these grants are specifically directed towards interventions that address the effects of poverty. This includes initiatives combating food insecurity, programs enhancing educational opportunities, and efforts that build and strengthen community support networks. RCF’s theory of change appears to be that by strategically funding non-profits working in these critical areas, they can catalyze positive change, reduce the burdens of poverty, and ultimately improve the quality of life for families in Jasper County. While specific measurable results are not explicitly detailed in terms of quantifiable outcomes, the program emphasizes providing grants up to $5,000 to non-profits that can demonstrate an ability to address the stated needs. The expected outcomes include a reduction in food insecurity, improved educational access and attainment, and a more robust community support system for those experiencing poverty. The foundation's strategic priorities are evident in its exclusion criteria, which clearly define what it will not fund (e.g., fellowships, scholarships, religious/political programs, individual grants, overhead costs), thereby ensuring resources are directed towards direct community benefit and program implementation rather than administrative or non-charitable endeavors.

The Jonathan and Barbara Silver Foundation (JBSF) grant program aims to foster and support both emerging and established sculptors, as well as writers who engage with sculpture. The foundation's mission is directly aligned with encouraging fresh perspectives and critical thinking on the history, aesthetics, purposes, imagination, or situation of sculpture. This commitment is reflected in its alternating grant cycle, supporting writing in even years and sculpture in odd years, demonstrating a holistic approach to the art form and its intellectual discourse. The primary beneficiaries of this grant program are individual writers who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, or hold an O-1 Visa, and have had at least one piece of writing published for the first time within the last five years. The program specifically targets those generating new writing and thinking on sculpture, with supported categories including magazine, catalogue, and book essays, as well as research or manuscripts for books currently in process or nearing completion. The impact goals are to cultivate new scholarly and creative works that enrich the understanding and appreciation of sculpture. The program prioritizes writing that demonstrates strength and relevance to project proposals, accepting up to three published writing samples, with a maximum length of 2,500 words per sample. Emphasis is placed on original, independently produced work, excluding pre-publication material, collaborative writing, news reporting, social media posts, essays on one's own art, and student publications. This focus ensures that the grant supports independent thought and high-quality, impactful scholarship and criticism. The expected outcomes include the completion and publication of insightful essays and books on sculpture, contributing to the broader academic and artistic discourse. Measurable results would be the successful publication of works funded by the grant and the continued development of the grantees' careers. The JBSF offers one $20,000 grant per year, enabling writers to dedicate time to their projects by covering eligible expenses such as writer’s fees, research travel, living expenses (including childcare), image permission fees, reproduction costs, and editing, transcription, or translation expenses. The foundation's strategic priorities are to provide direct financial support that enables deep engagement with sculptural themes, fostering an environment where critical and creative exploration can thrive. Their theory of change posits that by investing in individual writers, they can stimulate intellectual growth and contribute to a richer public understanding of sculpture's multifaceted roles and meanings. This direct support for individuals, coupled with clear guidelines on eligible and ineligible expenses, ensures that the funding directly facilitates the creation of new works that align with the foundation's mission.
