Programs should reflect substantial participation by both humanities scholars and members of the target audience(s). Major grants for media projects Major grants for media projects fund up to $20,000 of the costs for film, radio, television, or interactive programming related to the humanities. Applicants may request funds for any phase of the project, including scripting, development, production, post-production, and in some cases, distribution and free public screenings. Humanities scholars should play an integral role in determining the content and approach of the project. Grant Period The grant period must range from two to twelve months. The Firelight Documentary Lab supports filmmakers from underrepresented communities in the United States who make artful and innovative documentary films that take risks, and provide new narratives about the most pressing issues of our time. Firelight will consider all types of documentary projects – historical, investigative, personal, vérité, and experimental.  Requirements Only the director of the film is eligible to apply and enter the program. They can accept co-directors if they meet all eligibility requirements. If you’re applying with your co-director, please indicate that in your application. They cannot accept more than 2 directors per project. Filmmaker must be from an underrepresented community and reside in the United States or U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. Samoa, Guam/Northern Mariana Islands). The project must be a long-form/feature-length documentary; the Lab does not accept short documentaries, series, or fiction projects of any kind. The film must be a work in progress. They accept films from early production through production or post-production. They do not accept films in development or pre-production, or completed films. Filmmaker must be an emerging documentary filmmaker (working on their first or second feature-length documentary). Filmmakers are not eligible to receive support through one or any of Firelight Media’s artist programs if: The filmmaker is applying with a project that is a student film or related to ongoing coursework. The filmmaker is re-applying to a program they previously received support from. The filmmaker is contracted with another Firelight Media artist program and has not completed the final deliverables by the time they are selected for this program. The filmmaker is employed by Firelight Media, Firelight Films, or PBS as an officer, full-time employee, or is a member of the board of directors. The objective of this research proposal is to develop physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model-based mechanistic in vitro in vivo correlations (IVIVCs) for two major types of long acting injectables (LAIs) such as crystalline suspensions and polymer-based implants by considering their distinct characteristics. The goal of the project is to develop a bottom-up mechanistic PBPK model for these two LAI categories by accounting for the influence of critical formulation attributes of each LAI drug product type to predict its in vivo release mechanism. The model formulation parameters and relevant physiology should be informed with suitable in vitro and in vivo experiments. A suitable preclinical animal model can be used to validate the PBPK model based IVIVCs for both LAI suspensions and polymer based implants. The use of PBPK modelling provides a unique opportunity to understand how the physicochemical properties of drug molecules/polymer, implant specific properties, critical formulation attributes, and physiology, among other things, influence the in vivo release mechanisms of LAI drug products and their disposition characteristics. Moreover, once developed, a mechanistic PBPK model can help to define the 'safe space' for critical formulation attributes relevant to the reference listed drug (RLD) product, explain sources of PK variability and extrapolate predictions to human subjects by leveraging animal model data and by accounting for species-specific physiological differences.

The National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program is investing $50 million in the Gulf Futures Challenge to fund projects addressing critical challenges in the Gulf region. The Challenge aims to discover and promote innovative and transformative solutions by leveraging the talent and knowledge of the Gulf's people. The competition focuses on three main areas: energy transition, environmental change along the coast, and healthy and resilient communities. Up to ten finalists will receive up to $1 million in project development support, with two finalists awarded $20 million each to implement their solutions. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, state, local, and tribal governments, and academic institutions from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Texas, with projects located within 100 miles of the Gulf coastline. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) released its annual omnibus Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2024 (OMB Approval Number 2700-0092, CFDA Number 43.001) on February 14, 2024. In this case "omnibus" means that this NRA has many individual program elements, each with its own due dates and topics. All together these cover the wide range of basic and applied supporting research and technology in space and Earth sciences supported by SMD. Awards will be made as grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and inter- or intra-agency transfers, depending on the nature of the work proposed, the proposing organization, and/or program requirements. However, most extramural research awards deriving from ROSES will be grants, and many program elements of ROSES specifically exclude contracts, because contracts would not be appropriate for the nature of the work solicited. The typical period of performance for an award is three years, but some programs may allow up to five years and others specify shorter periods. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting innovative proposals to develop systemic drug delivery platforms for medical countermeasures (MCMs).
