The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) National Workforce Strategy is part of a joint agency initiative between the U.S. Department of Agricultures (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) that is expected to cultivate comprehensive and sustained solutions for WIC workforce development. The joint agency initiative aims to strengthen the diversity and cultural competency of the WIC workforce, with the ultimate goals of increasing: 1) WIC participation through reaching those populations that are eligible, but not enrolled; and 2) WIC participants use of benefits and services, including nutrition education and breastfeeding support.For this RFA, NIFA requests applications for a WIC Workforce Evaluation and Technical Assistance Center to provide technical assistance and evaluation oversight to implementation projects that will be funded to respond to the https://www.nifa.usda.gov/wic-national-workforce-strategy.

This project will support an international standards development process grounded in transparency, private sector leadership and public sector support, and diverse stakeholder engagement. This project will also enhance like-minded nations representation and an expanded number of countries that are aligned with USG vision, thus creating greater influence and leadership in international standards governance by the United States. With this solicitation, BJA seeks to support the purchase and lease of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by publicly funded law enforcement and corrections agencies as part of comprehensive BWC programs guided by sound policy and broad stakeholder input. U.S. Geological Surveys (USGS), Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center (NOROCK), is offering a funding opportunity to improve Bayesian model-based inferences for bat surveys. Field methods for monitoring bat populations in the western United States consist of stationary acoustic surveys, mobile transects, and summertime colony counts. The North American Bat monitoring program (NABat) relies on these core data streams to inform species status and trends assessments at range-wide extents, periodically (Loeb et al. 2015). NOROCKs research statistician was involved in conceptualizing the NABat program, developed the probabilistic master sample design underpinning the collaborative monitoring effort, continues to identify emerging statistical research and development needs for the Bats Stats Team, and provides sustained programmatic guidance and direction for the NABat program.

The U.S. Geological Survey Southwest Biological Science Center (SBSC) is offering a funding opportunity to provide research to (1) understand the biotic and abiotic constraints on successful reclamation, (2) develop reclamation effectiveness assessment workflows, and (3) identify management practices that promote reclamation success. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research and evaluation of evapotranspiration (ET) models across a multitude of wetlands sites in the United States. Using data from the Open Evapotranspiration platform (OpenET) a satellite-based ET cloud computing and data services platform in combination with a network of ground data, consideration of model data components for ET assessment will help provide better understanding of biophysical processes and model methods structures relating to accurate characterization of wetlands-based hydrologic ecosystems.

The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research on how hydrology and inundation affect Everglades tree island health and how tree island condition differs geospatially and with vegetation type. The USGS conducts ecological and hydrologic research and monitoring in support of Greater Everglades restoration efforts through South Florida, in conjunction with its Federal, State, and local partners. Research conducted by USGS scientists, and their research partners advance the understanding of Greater Everglades restoration and the potential influence of environmental change on ecosystem restoration. USGS research provides valuable information which contributes to decision-making during restoration. The USGS is offering an opportunity to CESU partners with existing tree island and Everglades vegetation expertise to compile and collect hydrologic and tree island data sets, perform quantitative analyses on how hydrology impacts tree island condition, and develop a set of criteria that can be integrated into ETree, a web application and decision support tool that shows hydrologic indicators at tree island locations in the Greater Everglades.

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in evaluating the efficacy of Incompatible Insect Technique (IIT) as a mosquito population suppression control strategy designed to disrupt the avian malaria disease cycle. The CESU partner will develop statistical models that incorporate capture rates of Southern house mosquitoes (Culex quinquefasciatus) and the prevalence of Plasmodium relictum in mosquito samples to characterize the efficacy of the IIT project and disease pressure on Hawaiian forest birds in critical forest bird habitat. Another component of this research will be to develop a high-throughput, next-generation sequencing technique to quantify the prevalence of avian malaria and test whether that approach is comparable to quantitative PCR-based avian malaria assays.

The Media Small Grants Program advances the U.S. Embassy goal of supporting a more inclusive and accountable democracy. It seeks to increase journalistic professionalism, expand the capabilities of independent media, and promoted access to information. The intended result is increased production of balanced, locally relevant, diverse, and high-quality media products. Prior activities through this program have included support for projects that: Produced quality journalism and educated journalists on best practices, including investigative work on key issues. Educated the public on safe social media use for children by partnering with social media influencers and bloggers. Supported the ability of government relations officials to effectively communicate with constituents. Produced journalistic content that highlights womens leadership in the regions. Proposed programs should be innovative and clearly demonstrate how they will complement any ongoing programs and avoid duplicating past efforts. They may include activities that improve upon or expand existing successful projects. Applicants should pay close attention to the PDS project goal and target audiences when developing their proposals.

The Grid Deployment Office, in conjunction with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, is issuing this FOA. Awards made under this FOA will be funded, in whole or in part, with funds appropriated by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also more commonly known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law or BIL. With this solicitation, BJS seeks to provide additional funding to conduct additional development and methodological work in support of the statistical procedures used to generate national estimates of crime based on the FBIs NIBRS. The first set of national estimates based on this new methodology was released in September 2022, marking the first time that NIBRS data will be the sole source of information on crimes known to law enforcement in the United States. This development and methods work will consist of system maintenance activities, additional estimation development, and assessment of data on indicators not included in the Year One estimates.

The Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008 (PRIIA) Section 212 requires establishment of a Northeast Corridor Commission (NEC Commission). The NEC Commission was established to promote mutual cooperation and planning pertaining to the rail operations and related activities of the Northeast Corridor. The statute requires several deliverables, including a statement of goals, recommendations, access costs and a report on Northeast Corridor economic development. The NEC Commission is comprised of 18 voting members, nine of which represent each of the eight states and the District of Columbia, five of which represent the U.S. Department of Transportation, and four of which represent Amtrak.

Established under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, The Nancy Pelosi Fellowship Program is a new program intended to enable undergraduate students to leverage professional experience gained through paid Fellowship opportunities at the Department of State and at think tanks, foundations, or other non-education institutions dedicated to global service and engagement to prepare to pursue a career in the Department of States Foreign or Civil Service.

The purpose of this cooperative agreement is to contribute to the knowledge base of and development of food safety systems globally due to the increasingly diverse and complex food supply. This cooperative agreement will:1) enhance and broaden FDAs ability to address global food safety and public health issues associated with food,2) provide opportunities to leverage additional resources among WTO member countries, and3) support the FDAs Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and its International Food Safety Capacity Building Plan, which emphasizes the concept of preventing food safety- related problems before they occur and the importance of establishing strong relationships and mutual support among all stakeholders, including multilateral organizations, to improve worldwide food safety. 4) Support global research and capacity building to improve best practices to build effective food safety systems in low- and middle-income countries

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is announcing potential availability of cooperative agreements for the purpose of leveraging NRCS resources to assist our agency with conducting and implementing important energy efficient agricultural operation evaluations on multiple private landowner properties throughout Massachusetts. NRCS recognizes the importance of incorporating on-site energy evaluations on agricultural operations including greenhouses and the beneficial outcomes it can have on the environment. Energy Efficient Agricultural Operations (conservation standard 374) has been an underutilized practice in Massachusetts. This agreement will be used to provide training on energy efficiency for NRCS staff and affiliates while also providing needed technical assistance for NRCS customers with energy focused site visits. NRCS Massachusetts is making a funding opportunity available for applicants to submit proposals with an award ceiling of $400,000 and a minimum project award of $200,000. NRCS will be awarding a cooperative agreement for up to a five-year period. If, in coordination with NRCS, additional resources are needed at a rate that exceeds this schedule, NRCS may add funds to this agreement to support continued partnership over the performance period. The primary goal is to expand energy efficiency to NRCS customers throughout Massachusetts. The project list ranges in size from 1-acre farms to several hundred-acre farms. Applicants will identify the average number of energy efficiency site visits and written on-site energy improvement plans that they could complete in any year with a minimum of ten per year being acceptable for this agreement. NRCS will work with the selected applicant to make the choice of priority energy site visits each year of the agreement based on interest and need. Applicants will be required to hold 1-2 energy efficiency focused trainings per year for NRCS staff and partners to expand their knowledge on the subject.
