GPD Grants Introduction The GPD Program is VAs largest transitional housing program for Veterans experiencing homelessness and is permanently authorized under Public Law 109-461. Since 1994, the GPD Program has awarded grants to community-based organizations to provide transitional housing with wraparound supportive services to assist vulnerable Veterans move into permanent housing. The grants are designed to meet Veterans at various stages as they move to stable housing. Community-based organizations receiving GPD grants offer focused transitional housing services through a variety of housing models targeted to different populations and needs of Veterans. The GPD program plays a vital role in the continuum of homeless services by providing supportive services to those Veterans who would otherwise be among the unsheltered homeless population. The result of GPD programs is that Veterans achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and/or income and obtain greater self-determination. Types of GPD Grants Transitional housing grants: Per Diem Only (PDO) grants provide funding in the form of per diem payments to reimburse grantees for the cost of care provided to Veterans in transitional supportive housing. Special Need grants target housing and services to specific populations of Veterans (e.g., women, Veterans with chronic mental illness, frail elderly Veterans, Veterans caring for minor dependents, terminally ill Veterans). Transition-In-Place (TIP) grants offer Veteran residents housing in which supportive services transition out of the residence over time, rather than the resident. Upon completion of the TIP services, the resident retains the unit as their permanent housing with no requirement to move. Other types of grants: Case Management grants support Veterans who were previously experiencing homelessness or who are at risk for homelessness so that they may obtain or retain permanent housing. Capital grants support the costs of acquiring, renovating or constructing facilities and are only offered intermittently to improve existing facilities or to develop new transitional housing depending on the needs of the Department and funding availability. Each notice of funding will clarify specific eligibility criteria, application requirements, funding limitations and other requirements. Applications are submitted through an online portal that is only available when there is an open notice of funding. The purpose of the NIH Midcareer Investigator Award in Patient-Oriented Research (K24) is to provide support to mid-career health-professional doctorates for protected time to devote to patient-oriented research (POR) and to act as research mentors primarily for clinical residents, clinical fellows and/or junior clinical faculty. Level of Effort Candidates must be able to demonstrate the need for protected time, 3-6 person months (25-50% of full-time professional effort) for a period of intensive research focus as a means of augmenting their capabilities in POR and ability to act as a mentor to new clinical investigators in the conduct of POR during this period. Candidates for the K24 award may not concurrently apply for any other PHS career award or have another PHS career award pending review. Candidates who have VA appointments may not consider part of the VA effort toward satisfying the full time requirement at the applicant institution. Candidates with VA appointments should contact the staff person in the relevant Institute or Center prior to preparing an application to discuss their eligibility. After the receipt of the award, adjustments to the required level of effort may be made in certain circumstances. See NOT-OD-09-036 for more details. Renewals Depending on the policies of the sponsoring NIH Institute/Center, awardees may apply for a one-time renewal for an additional three to five years of support if the recipient continues to have independent peer-reviewed research support at the time of submission of the renewal application. Candidates should clearly demonstrate their continuing need for protected time to expand their research programs. Peer-Reviewed Research Support Depending on the policies of the sponsoring NIH Institute/Center, candidates are expected to continue to hold independent peer-reviewed research support for the period of this award. Candidates losing this support during the award period must document in their annual Progress Reports efforts to replace this support and demonstrate that they continue to meet all other requirements of the career award. Institutional Environment The applicant institution must have a strong, well-established record of research and career development activities and faculty qualified to serve as mentors in biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders (NIDDK) intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for the TrialNet Clinical Network Hub (HUB). The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to continue support for the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Clinical Network Hub (HUB), a screening and clinical activities coordination unit for clinical trials focusing on the prevention of and early intervention in type 1 diabetes (T1D). The main objective of the HUB is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the TrialNet network by providing coordination of communications and outreach and developing new tools and approaches to increase screening, recruitment and retention. This NOFO requires a Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP), which will be assessed as part of the scientific and technical peer review evaluation. Applications that fail to include a PEDP will be considered incomplete and will be withdrawn. This grant provides funding to support diverse postdoctoral researchers in transitioning to independent faculty positions while conducting innovative research on pain and substance use disorders.

The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to support investigators who will form large, electronically-generated cohorts in Latin America of HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM), transgender women (TGW), people who inject drugs (PWID), and/or female sex-workers and follow them to study the epidemiology of HIV incidence. Continued follow-up of those persons who acquire HIV will be required to study the epidemiology of viral suppression. Comparisons of participants by seroconverstion status will provide information on geographic and socially defined areas of high HIV incidence as well as on both personal and structural vulnerabilities to HIV infection. Among participants who seroconvert, comparisons of those becoming rapidly engaged in care and who reach non-detectable HIV levels to those whose virus remains detectable will inform on the treatment of HIV in Latin American countries. This NOFO will allow digital trials to determine optimal study approaches, or to pilot evidence-based digital (mHealth and online) HIV prevention and treatment interventions to both reduce HIV incidence and improve treatment in the most vulnerable populations.Letter of Intent Due Date(s) 30 days prior to the application due date

With this solicitation, NIJ seeks rigorous, applied evaluative research on: (1) police training; (2) police accountability policies and practices; (3) investigative practices to enhance clearance rates; and (4) police officer health and wellness programs. Successful applicants should propose the most rigorous design to answer their proposed research questions. NIJ will consider research designs that include qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods designs. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and strong quasi-experimental designs are required for proposals to conduct outcome evaluations. NIJ will give special consideration to proposals with methods that include meaningful engagement with the people closest to the subject of study, including practitioners as well as community members representing crime victims, people under criminal justice supervision, and members of high-crime communities. Applicants are encouraged to propose multidisciplinary research teams to build on the complementary strengths of different methods and areas of subject matter expertise. NIJ also seeks proposals that include consideration and measurement of issues of diversity, discrimination, and bias across age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation, as applicable. Applications proposing research involving partnerships with juvenile justice, criminal justice or other agencies should include a strong letter of support, signed by an appropriate decisionmaking authority from each proposed, partnering agency. A letter of support should include the partnering agency’s acknowledgment that de-identified data derived from, provided to, or obtained through an award funded by NIJ will be archived by the grant recipient with the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) at the conclusion of the award. Applicants and their potential partners are encouraged to review NIJ’s data archiving guidance. If selected for an award, grantees will be expected to have a formal agreement in place with partnering agencies by January 1, 2025. That formal agreement must include a provision to meet the data archiving requirements of the award. NIJ seeks proposals that include robust, creative, and multi-pronged dissemination strategies that include strategic partnerships with organizations and associations that are best equipped to ensure that research findings lead to changes in policies and practices. Special consideration will be given to proposals that dedicate at least 15% of the requested project award funding toward implementing such strategies, as demonstrated in the “Budget Worksheet and Budget Narrative.” In the case of partnerships that will involve the use of federal award funds by multiple partnering agencies to carry out the proposed project, only one entity/partnering agency may be the applicant (as is the case with any application submitted in response to this solicitation); any Page 8 O-NIJ-2024-172011 others must be proposed as subrecipients.
