Arts Respond - Cultural District Project Eligibility: TCA Cultural Districts; VERIFIED College Arts Institution, Established Arts Organizations, Established Arts Organizations of Color, Government Local Arts Agencies, Local Arts Agencies, Rural Arts Providers located within a TCA Designated Cultural District Intent: Projects that use the arts to diversify local economies, generate revenue, and attract visitors and investment. This competitive grant program provides project assistance grants on a short-term basis and may include administrative costs directly related to the project. This program is designed for projects that focus on significant cultural tourism projects. These projects should serve at least one of the following: High quality arts programming that will attract a significant number of visitors from 50 miles or more outside the community (i.e., blockbuster art exhibitions, national or regional premieres, major festivals) Enhancements to the cultural district to make it more accessible, attractive, cohesive-looking, and safe for visitors Improved signage and wayfinding for the district Promotion of the district; this may include the district’s website, branding, and marketing Organizational support for the management and operations of the district (TCA Cultural District only) These grants may include capital improvements. INTENT: To activate vacant and underused spaces through the arts to help bring together community members around the art, history, and culture of the community. DESCRIPTION This program provides funding for communities with populations of 15,000 or less to reinvigorate spaces by creating new murals or public art that incorporate the community’s history, culture, heritage, tourism, or other community led art piece. This mural and public art grant program is intended to support projects in rural communities that are immediately ready to begin work on their mural, with community engagement, location selection, site approvals, and muralist selection being completed by May 10, 2024. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS Communities with a population of 15,000 or less, located in a county of 50,000 or less. Units of local government Economic/Community Development and Tourism non-profits (501c3 or 501c6) Federally recognized tribes Non-profit organizations (501c3) MAXIMUM REQUEST: $7,500 MATCH REQUIREMENT: • Dollar for dollar (1:1) • The total project cost must be at least twice the amount of the grant request. • The match requirement must consist of at least 25% cash expenses provided by the applicant • In-kind non-monetary donations and volunteer hours may be counted, up to 75% of the required match MATCH EXCEPTION Organizations or projects in communities with populations of 1000 or fewer: • In-kind non-monetary donations may be counted as 100% of the required match PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE • May 2024 – December 31, 2024 • Murals painted on exterior walls using paint or an adhesive material need to be completed by mid-October 2024 to ensure weather does not inhibit the curing process. • If more time is needed to complete your project, KCAIC has an additional program that could be a better fit. ELIGIBLE COSTS/EXPENSES • Artist and consultant fees including travel expenses and accommodation expenses • Applicable project materials and supplies • Additional administrative costs (beyond annually budgeted general operating costs) related to the approved project • Allowable marketing expenses directly related to the approved project (This does not include campaigns or materials used solely to raise awareness of the organization.) • Equipment purchases needed to complete art or mural project under $5,000 • Wall or surface repair – limited to 15% of total project cost (tuckpointing, mortar repair) • Surface preparation (smoothing, resurfacing, cleaning, etc.) • Lighting or display materials to highlight the art piece • Landscaping or clean-up of the space that could affect the visibility of the mural INELIGIBLE COSTS/EXPENSES INCLUDE: • General operating costs of an organization not directly related to the approved project (Applicable general operating costs directly related to the approved project may account for no more than 50% of an applicant’s cash match) • Fundraising campaigns or related expenses, scholarships • Construction, purchase, or renovation of facilities • Financing of political activities, lobbying, or murals that are directly tied to a political party affiliation • Honorariums (artists and contractors must be paid as fees for services rendered) FUNDING PRIORITIES • Communities or Counties that have not previously received funding from the Kansas Department of Commerce for murals or public art • Projects that can show that they are ready to begin. Nebraska Academic Research and Development Grants provide matching competitive grants for research and development activities in collaboration with a Nebraska college or university. Phase I R&D awards are capped at $100,000, while Phase II awards are capped at $400,000. Businesses must match the grant amount with eligible funds. The Historic Restoration Fund Grants (HRF) program by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development provides financial support for maintaining and repairing non-profit and municipally owned buildings listed on the State or National Register of Historic Places. Alaska State Council on the Arts, with support from Rasmuson Foundation, offers Access Grants of up to $1,000 to support short-term arts and cultural activities for grades K-12 at a school site during the school day. These grants aim to bring high-quality arts experiences to students and are part of the Cultural Collaborations program. Cultural Collaborations Grants The Cultural Collaborations and Arts Educator Fellowship Programs are made possible through support from the Rasmuson Foundation, administered by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. A school may apply for and receive an Arts Excursion grant, and a Project or Access Grant per school year. A school may also receive support for an Artists in Schools residency in the same school year, either as an individual school or through a district grant. The Arts Educator Fellowship program provides grants to certified, permanently-assigned, full and part-time K-12 teachers to immerse themselves in their own creative work, interact with professional artists, and stay current with new artistic practice. The Arts Educator Fellowship is meant to create opportunities for Alaska teachers to fill their own artistic wells. Eligible applicants may apply for up to $3,000 in support of Arts Educator Fellowship (AEF) activities, based on actual expenses.

It can also be used for providing professional services as a State Service Organization or Local Arts Agency. Eligibility: - All applicants must be either a public entity or a Florida non-profit tax-exempt corporation by the application deadline. - Ongoing arts and cultural programs within larger multipurpose institutions are eligible with restrictions. - Arts in Education program support is available for organizations promoting excellence in arts education. - Discipline-based program support is available for cultural and artistic programming in various areas such as dance, literature, media arts (film, radio or television), museum, music, presenter, theatre, traditional arts and visual arts. - Local Arts Agency program support is available for designated Local Arts Agencies (LAAs) that support arts and culture organizations and artists through advocacy and disseminating information. The activities funded by this grant must align with the mission of the organization or artist and further the state's cultural objectives. Both organizations and individuals are eligible to apply. Basic Eligibility: - All current and previous grantees must be in good standing with the Division of Arts and Culture and the Department of State at the time of application. - Applicant organizations must be either a public entity or a Florida non-profit tax-exempt corporation as of the application deadline. - Individuals may apply for Artist Project, Artist Performances on Tour, and Teaching Artist grants. - All organizations must have at least one year of completed arts and cultural programming and provide their last completed fiscal year's operating budget. - Applicant organizations must be registered with the Division of Corporations as "active" by the application deadline. - Applicant organizations must be registered as a vendor with the Department of Financial Services and provide a copy of their Florida Substitute W-9 form. - Applicant organizations must have a UEI Number. There are various discipline-based program areas with their own eligibility requirements such as arts in education projects, artist residency projects, arts partnership projects, discipline-based projects (dance, literature, media arts, museum, music, presenter, theatre, traditional arts, visual arts), and underserved cultural community development projects. Grants for Artists: All applicants must be Florida-based artists who are not enrolled in a degree or certificate program. Artists applying as individuals must create a profile in the grant portal. There are different project types available for artists, including individual artist project grants and arts in education grants (artist performances on tour and teaching artist grants).

CDP Production grants are available for documentary media productions that focus on California subjects and issues, using the humanities to provide context and perspective. Projects may include film, audio, digital media, web-based and broadcast series, podcasts, interactive, VR, and multiplatform projects. There is no specific length requirement for projects. Projects must approach the subject matter from a humanities perspective and involve at least two Humanities Advisors. Eligible applicants may request funding up to $50,000 with a required 1:1 match of cash or in-kind contributions from non-federal sources. The maximum term for a CDP Production grant is three years after the start of the grant period. Applicants must be non-profit organizations or individuals being fiscally sponsored by a tax-exempt organization or municipal/state agency with federal 501(c)(3) status. Fiscal sponsorship does not need to be confirmed by the application deadline but should be confirmed within 30 days after the application due date if awarded. Grant funds are disbursed in three installments: 50% upon approval of signed award documents; 40% upon approval of an interim report; and the final 10% upon project completion and approval of a final report.
