The Licensed Vocational Nurse Loan Repayment Program (LVNLRP) makes awards to eligible applicants currently licensed and practicing as a vocational nurse for loan repayment of up to $8,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an eligible geographic or approved site designation. The purpose of this document is to provide a program overview and outline the requirements for Licensed Vocational Nursling Loan Repayment Program (LVNLRP) applicants. Background and Mission The Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) works to increase and diversify California’s healthcare workforce by providing loan repayments and scholarships to health professional students and graduates who provide direct patient care in those communities. LVNLRP is funded through a $5 surcharge from renewal and licensure fees collected by the Department of Consumer Affairs for Licensed Vocational Nurses in California. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of appropriately trained nurses providing direct patient care in a qualified facility or area in California.

The Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program (STLRP) makes awards to eligible applicants currently licensed and practicing as a physician for loan repayment of up to $105,000 in exchange for a 36-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an eligible geographic or approved site designation.       

The Licensed Mental Health Services Provider Education Program (LMH) makes awards to eligible applicants currently licensed and practicing in an eligible mental health profession for loan repayment of up to $15,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct client care in an eligible geographic or approved site designation. 

The Bachelor of Science Nursing Loan Repayment Program (BSNLRP) makes awards to eligible applicants currently licensed and practicing as a registered nurse for loan repayment of up to $15,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an eligible geographic or approved site designation.

The City of Jurupa Valley is currently accepting applications for its Community Service Grant Program. Eligibility Criteria Organizations applying for Community Service Grants shall have current tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. An organization shall not be eligible for Community Services Grants if the funding will be used for the following purposes:  salaries;  scholarships to high school or college students as part of their funding request;  satisfaction of debts;  mass mailing in violation of the mass mailing provisions of the Political Reform Act;  religious purposes;  political purposes; or  mass mailings in violation of the Political Reform Act. An organization shall not be eligible for Community Services Grants if:  one or more members of the City Council are members of the board or officers of the organization;  the organization is currently involved in a law suit adverse to the City;  the organization engages in uses or activities prohibited by law or City ordinances;  the organization engages in activities that create a conflict of interest for the City; or  the organization engages in activities that are adverse to the health or safety of the community. By law, all Community Service Funding may only be spent for a public purpose for the City of Jurupa Valley and must comply with all applicable laws. The program or service eligible for funding must be social welfare, educational, charitable, athletic, cultural, or recreational programs which benefits the general community of Jurupa Valley residents, including promotion of the City. The minimum award is $25,000. Eligibility Criteria Eligible applicants include local, state, and federal agencies; nonprofit organizations; and federally recognized Native American tribes. Nonprofit organizations are defined as any nonprofit public benefit corporation that is formed pursuant to the Nonprofit Corporation Law, incorporated for a minimum of two years, qualified to do business in California, and qualified as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization under the US Internal Revenue Code. Requirements To be eligible for funding, projects must meet ALL the following program requirements: Project must serve youth. For the purposes of this program, youth is defined as a person between the ages of birth and 26 years old. Project must directly support youth access to either natural or cultural resources. The Department of Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC) Site Mitigation and Restoration Program Office of Brownfield manages the Equitable Community Revitalization Grant, which provides approximately $185 million in grants through a competitive process for investigations and cleanup of brownfields, in disadvantaged, vulnerable communities, to protect public health and provide opportunities for community revitalization.

California voters passed the Control, Regulate and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act (Proposition 64) on November 8, 2016, which legalized the recreational sale and use of cannabis to people over the age of 21 and levied new excise taxes on the cultivation and retail sale of all state-regulated cannabis. Proposition 64 created the Youth Education, Prevention, Early Intervention and Treatment Account (YEPEITA) into which the State Controller deposits 60 percent (60%) of the tax revenues from marijuana sales for youth programs designed to educate about and prevent substance use disorders and to prevent harm from substance use. Programs shall emphasize accurate education, effective prevention, early intervention, school retention, and timely treatment services for youth, their families, and caregivers. Funds appropriated to the California Natural Resources Agency (the State) are for competitive grants to support youth access to natural or cultural resources with a focus on low-income and disadvantaged communities.  This includes, but is not limited to, community education and recreational amenities to support youth substance use prevention and early intervention. Since 2022, Cal ICH has partnered with California Federally Recognized Tribes and stakeholders to develop the Tribal HHAP Program. In 2024, Cal ICH is continuing and expanding our partnerships with Tribes and stakeholders in strengthening the Tribal HHAP program.
