The Del Norte Physician’s Recruitment and Retention Fund was started by several community-minded businesses, organizations and individuals. It was established with the goal of promoting healthcare in Del Norte County by recruiting and ultimately retaining physicians for this area. Funds are available to organizations for recruitment costs, and to individuals for medical loan repayment, professional development or retention purposes. Recipients must commit to working in Del Norte County for the year the funding is received. This fund will award up to $50,000 per recipient per year, for a maximum of two years.

The Disaster Response & Resilience Fund supports charitable organizations in Humboldt, Trinity, Del Norte, and Curry counties, as well as adjoining Tribal lands during current and future disasters, including fires, earthquakes, flooding, and other natural and man-made disasters. HCAI has designated Essential Access Health (Essential Access) as the Program Administrator and the entity that will manage the distribution of the funds and ensure program compliance with statutory requirements. Direct practical support to individuals seeking to obtain abortion care such as:  Transportation (gas, bus, airfare, ride share, taxi, train, etc.) Lodging (hotel/motel, short-term rental) Meals (per diem meal allowance, restaurant, grocery store expenses) Childcare/elder care expenses Travel expenses for emotional support companion Language access services (patient interpretation services) Abortion doula expenses Wage replacement for missed work Pharmacy expenses (Over-the-counter supplies and prescriptions) Support for organizations providing practical support services to individuals seeking to obtain abortion care:  Care management/navigation Staff training Language access services (translation and interpretation services) Communication platforms or systems Indirect costs (up to 10% of overall budget request) Funding Information The funding range is $100,000 -$500,000 for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Eligibility Criteria According to state statute, applicants must be non-profit organizations with active 501(c)3 status based in California that assist pregnant people with practical support services which help make accessing abortion care possible. The Veterans grant program is funded by El Dorado County to support operations, programs, or property improvements/repairs that support the veteran community at large. Requirements In order to receive a grant an organization or group needs to submit an application plan that meets the following requirements Grant funds must go to nonprofits. Individuals are not eligible to receive a grant. For those programs helping individual veterans, funds may be contingent on the veteran providing proof of service via a DD214, El Dorado County Veteran identification card, or a Department of Defense identification card. Organizations must sit out a 1.5 years between requests from Veterans TOT.  Thus, if an organization receives funds in April/May of one year, they must wait til the following September/October of the next year to apply.  Final impact reports on initial grants must be submitted and approved prior to new funding being released. The application requires the requesting organization information and, if different, distributing organization information. An estimated time frame of fund usage. All the grant money does not need to be used in the year requested. It is permissible for the requesting organization to use only a portion of the funds during the award year but the application must specify the long term use. If the group fails to use all grant money in the proposed time frame the commission may request the unspent funds be returned. Preference will be given to organizations that have established programs and that consistently apply for other grant funds and/or fund-raise separately.
