Educational opportunities for girls and women to learn and experience things that will expand skills leading to long-term economic, personal, and career development. Health and Healthcare Organizations and programs that concentrate on identifying and addressing healthcare issues specific to women and girls. Organizations that offer specialized programs addressing the mental, emotional, and/or physical health for women and girls. Poverty and Homelessness  Organizations and programs that address the unique challenges for women and girls dealing with poverty and homelessness. Programming that provides concrete assistance in obtaining housing, moving out of poverty, and creating long-term solutions to these issues. Violence and Safety  Organizations and programs that focus on the safety of women and girls within their community, homes, and schools. Violence prevention efforts include educating on the individual, institutional, and societal level through specific programming and advocacy strategies. Funding Priorities The Women’s Fund Committee prioritizes grant requests according to the following criteria: Requests that address barriers to racial equity and/or work to reverse the systems of racism for women and girls in Black Hawk County. Requests that address a critical and urgent need by fostering a solution-based approach. Requests for effective programming focused on creating significant and direct impact to women and girls in Black Hawk County. Requests that show innovative approaches to advancing women’s and girls’ growth and success. Requests that show other funding and/or community support or that will use this grant to leverage additional funding support Funding Information Request minimum is $5,000 and maximum is $20,000. Eligibility Criteria Organizations must provide benefits to women and girls of Black Hawk County and must meet the following criteria to apply for a grant: Be classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or be a government entity. Tax-exempt organizations classified as other than 501(c)(3) are also eligible if, and only if, the request is deemed charitable; Organizations with fiscal sponsors are eligible. The Arts & Culture Capacity Building Grant Program provides funding to support initiatives that aim to create a more sustainable and effective organization. Donor Name: City of Dubuque State: Iowa City: Dubuque Type of Grant: Grant Deadline: 05/10/2024 Size of the Grant: $1000 to $10,000 Grant Duration: 1 Year Details: Eligible organizations may apply for grants of up to $8,000 to support capacity-building initiatives. The organization must maintain a cash operating expense budget, exclusive of other City of Dubuque grant support, of no less than $10,000 per year. A total of $35,000 in funding is available. Examples of capacity-building initiatives include: strategic planning creating a development plan and/or fundraising strategy donor experience improvements staff and/or board member nonprofit 101 training leadership development project or program development program management volunteer management Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) training. Grant Period Funding is available in fiscal year 2025 (FY25), which runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. Eligibility Criteria Applicant is an arts and culture organization as defined by grant guidelines. Applicant is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with at least two years of programming documentation and two Form 990s. Applicant’s official business address is located in the city limits of Dubuque (P.O. Boxes will not be accepted). Applicant serves residents of Dubuque and programming occurs within the city limits. Summer Meal Program Expansion Grant Applications for the new Summer Meal Program Expansion Grant program are now open through May 7! Program Overview: The Iowa Department of Education has received $900,000 to support the enhancement and expansion of summer meal programs in currently underserved and eligible areas. Program Details: Funding Source: $900,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Purpose: Enhance and expand summer meal programs in underserved areas. Target Audience: Iowa children ages 18 and under. Programs Supported: Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO). Grant Opportunity: Provides additional revenue source for summer meal programs beyond federal meal reimbursement. Allowable Expenses: Enhancing meal quality, incorporating locally grown foods, updating program equipment, conducting program outreach, and operational/administrative personnel expenses not fully covered through meal reimbursement.
