Thus, a minimum of 10 percent of each federal fiscal year’s grant will be allocated to each of these categories. An additional 10 percent of each federal fiscal year’s grant will be allocated to victims of violent crime (other than the “priority” category as stated above) who were “previously underserved” (40 percent total). These underserved crime victims of either adult or juvenile offenders may include, but are not limited to, victims of federal crimes; survivors of homicide victims; or victims of assault, robbery, gang violence, hate and bias crimes, intoxicated drivers, bank robbery, economic exploitation, fraud, or elder abuse. Grant Purpose To provide direct services to crime victims. Direct services are defined as those efforts that: Respond to the emotional and physical needs of crime victims Assist primary and secondary victims of crime to stabilize their lives after a victimization Assist victims to understand and participate in the criminal justice system Provide victims of crime with a measure of safety such as boarding up broken windows and replacing or repairing locks Priority is given to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. A minimum of 10% of each federal fiscal year’s grant will be allocated to each of the priority categories of crime victims. An additional 10% minimum of each VOCA grant will be allocated to victims of violent crime who were previously underserved (e.g., DUI, robbery, gang violence, etc.). Grant Period Three-year period of October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2027. Eligibility Criteria Funds are available to units of state or local government, tribal organizations, and nonprofit community and faith-based organizations.
