The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders (NIDDK) intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for the TrialNet Coordinating Center (TNCC). The TrialNet network identifies people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at stages before and after onset of clinical symptoms and enrolls them in trials and studies aimed at prevention of progression to clinical disease and preservation of insulin production. The TNCC participates in ongoing studies and intervention trials as well as the design and conduct of new studies and intervention trials. The TNCC will: (1) support a wide range of research projects in varying stages of development, implementation and completion, and (2) provide data and sample management, including standardized acquisition, quality control, dissemination and public accessibility. The TNCC will be responsible for network administration and operations, including the evaluation, selection, and funding (through subcontracts) of Clinical Centers and central support units (such as laboratories) necessary for the conduct of TrialNets clinical studies. The TNCC PD/PI will be a voting member of the TrialNet Executive and Steering Committees, contributing to network leadership. This NOFO requires a Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP), which will be assessed as part of the scientific and technical peer review evaluation. Applications that fail to include a PEDP will be considered incomplete and will be withdrawn. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the NOFO instructions carefully and view the available PEDP guidance material. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. The NOFO is expected to be published in Spring 2024 with an expected application due date in Summer 2024. This NOFO will utilize the U01 activity code. Details of the planned NOFO are provided below.

The Town of Avon offers the Support for Community Events Grant Program to provide financial aid to local festivals, special events, and community programs that deliver recreational or cultural opportunities and promote the town. The program gives special attention to events that enhance the attractiveness of Avon as a place to visit or live, celebrate local heritage, and enrich quality of life. Grant awards are capped at 25 percent of the event budget or 7,500 dollars, whichever is less. The funding window covers events occurring between July 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024. Preference is given to purchases or services that protect public health, safety, and welfare, such as emergency medical services, sanitation, lighting, security, and transportation. Eligible applicants must be tax exempt organizations under a 501(c) category and events must be held within town limits. Events must be free and open to the public, not financially dependent on town support, and not organized as for profit ventures. The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to invite applications to establish integrated and collaborative Stillbirth Research Centers, as part of a new Stillbirth Research Consortium. The Centers will support cutting-edge basic, translational, clinical, and/or data sciences research and generate knowledge to fuel advancement of stillbirth-relevant research in the United States, with a particular emphasis on approaches that utilize an equity lens to identify ways to decrease the incidence of stillbirth in vulnerable populations. A Data Coordinating Center (described in the companion announcement NOT-HD-24-010) will support the work of the research projects funded under the Stillbirth Research Consortium. This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants additional time to develop meaningful collaborations, interdisciplinary teams, and responsive applications. The National Cancer Institute intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications forresearch on the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma in HIV-positive individuals diagnosed with cancer. This NOFO will utilize the R01 grant mechanism (clinical trial optional). Up to six (6) R01 awards are expected to be funded as part of the initiative. Research projects search project will advance the current understanding of the confluence of cancer stigma and HIV stigma among people with HIV (PWH) diagnosed with cancer; assess the impact of these two converging stigmas on cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; leverage stigma reduction interventions at multiple levels to intervene on modifiable mechanisms of stigma that contribute to negative cancer outcomes among PWH with cancer; and promote research in diverse domestic and international contexts, focusing on regions in which the HIV-cancer burden is elevated. The NOFO is expected to be published in late Summer 2024 with an expected application due date in late Fall 2024. Details of a pre-application webinar will be announced after the publication of the NOFO. This Notice is being provided to allow sufficient time for potential applicants with relevant expertise and insights to consider applying for this NOFO.
