The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in unifying pre-Illinoian glacial till strata in the midcontinent region of the United States. The purpose of this project is to create a multi-state working group to update the correlations on a multi-state level to refine existing glacial stratigraphy that is not adequate for current geological needs. Early to Middle Pleistocene tills and associated glacial sediments in the midcontinent are lumped together and named pre-Illinoian. Geochronologic and stratigraphic evidence revealed that this framework was too simplistic. Individual states have adopted inconsistent nomenclatures and varying approaches to differentiating pre-Illinoian units in the midcontinent. The working group plans to better understand and align multiple till intervals both within states and across state boundaries.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to support Ukrainian arts by fostering Ukrainian American collaborations and/or presenting American content in theatrical plays, musical and dance performances, and visual arts projects, such as exhibits. Please follow all instructions below. Priority Region: Ukraine. Program Objectives: Russias war against Ukraine targets not only its territory and people but also Ukraines very identity as a nation. Culture nurtures that identity, particularly the performing arts and visual art projects which gather Ukrainians together even during wartime. To support Ukrainian performing and visual arts in these challenging times of Russian aggression against Ukraine the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) invites Ukrainian registered non-profit, non-governmental organizations to apply for funding to support theatrical, music, dance or literary performances and visual arts projects that (a) present American content to Ukrainian audiences with or without American participation, (b) create new art through American-Ukrainian collaboration between organizations or individuals, or (c) establish programs supporting American mentoring for Ukrainian artists. The grant from the U.S. Embassy will cover costs associated with developing such projects and with concluding presentation or series of presentations of created works. The following types of programs are not eligible for funding: Projects in Film. Cultural festivals and conventions, including music and film festivals. Projects in creative industries. Programs relating to partisan political activity. Charitable events. Construction. Programs that support specific religious activities. Fund-raising campaigns. Lobbying for specific legislation or programs. Scientific research. Programs that duplicate existing programs Participants and Audiences: The project must be tailored towards Ukrainian audiences, and all project activities supported by the U.S. Embassy grant should take place in Ukraine and incorporate a substantive U.S. component. Projects tailored towards minorities, underserved groups and IDPs are encouraged. Taking into consideration current limitations related to bringing Americans to Ukraine, the project can include virtual interaction between participants and stakeholders. In FY 2023, OVW made an award to Activating Change to implement Phase Two of a two-part initiative focusing on the expansion and strengthening of services for Deaf victims and survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Specifically, Activating Change was funded to implement the recommendations outlined in Expanding Deaf-Specific Victim Services Nationwide: A 5-Year Strategy report (Report). The Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S. Embassy in Colombo is seeking a local implementing partner to administratively support a four-day Youth Leadership Summit in close consultation with the Embassy, tentatively scheduled for March 2025. The Summit will bring together Youth Forum members representing U.S. Embassy Colombos American Spaces in Kandy, Jaffna, Matara, Batticaloa and Colombos American Center. Approximately 75 Youth Forum Members from across Sri Lanka will participate in a four-day, in-person workshop of skill-building sessions intended to develop the next generation of Sri Lankan youth leaders. In addition, approximately 25 Youth leaders from the South Asian region (nominated by the U.S. Missions to Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Pakistan) may also be invited to participate, pending confirmation of additional funding to support their travel and lodging.

The Tactical Technology Office (TTO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting executive summaries, proposal abstracts, and proposals for applied research, advanced technology development, platform demonstrations, or systems studies that aim to redefine the future of warfighting across four domains: Air, Ground, Maritime, and Space.

Evaluation Center (CJTTEC). The Center provides testing, evaluation, and other activities to support the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and efficacy of technologies in use or adaptable by criminal justice and juvenile justice communities. The Center informs NIJs research and development efforts as well as NIJs stakeholders, including criminal justice practitioners, policymakers, researchers, federal partners, and private industry, by: (1) conducting secondary research on technologies and technology implementation for potential use by criminal justice communities; (2) performing experimental testing and evaluation on technologies to inform potential adoption by criminal justice agencies; (3) conducting experimental or rigorous quasi-experimental research and evaluation of technology implementation by criminal justice agencies; (4) administering the NIJ Compliance Testing Program (CTP); and (5) supporting the development, validation, and maintenance of criminal justice equipment standards.

The Rural Housing Service (RHS) announces a notice in funding availability under its Housing Preservation Grant (HPG) program. The HPG program is a grant program which provides qualified public agencies, private nonprofit organizations, which may include but not be limited to, Faith-Based and Community Organizations, and other eligible entities grant funds to assist very low- and low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. In addition, the HPG program assists rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes in repairing and rehabilitating their units if they agree to make such units available to low- and very low-income persons. This action is taken to comply with Agency regulations found in 7 CFR part 1944, subpart N, which require the Agency to announce the opening and closing dates for receipt of preapplications for HPG funds from eligible applicants. The US Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in Global Food-Security Support-Analysis Data (GFSAD) project. Climate variability and ballooning populations are putting unprecedented pressure on agricultural croplands and their water use, which are vital for ensuring global food and water security in the twenty-first century. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic, military conflicts, and changing diets have added to looming global food insecurity. Therefore, there is a critical need to produce consistent and accurate global cropland products at fine spatial resolution (e.g., farm-scale, 30m or better), which are generated consistently, accurately, and routinely (e.g., every year). In order to address these issues, the proposed study will make use of Landsat-8, 9, and Sentinel-2A&2B surface reflectance products already available in the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud, and NASA’s Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) Landsat derived product (HLSL30) for 2013-present and Sentinel-2 derived product (HLSS30) for 2015-present, that together have sub-5-day global coverage at nominal 30m resolution. The four cropland products will be generated using 14 mature MLAs that the team has extensive experience with such as random forest, support vector machines, decision trees, and spectral matching techniques (e.g., Thenkabail et al., 2021, Oliphant et al., 2019, Teluguntla et al., 2018, 2015, Xiong et al., 2017a, Thenkabail et al., 2012, 2009, 2007, 2005) as outlined in the methods section, utilizing GEE and\or other cloud platforms.

The goal and mission of the NDPC is to enable communities to address specific evolving and emerging threats and hazards and close capability gaps through development and delivery of learning solutions that strengthen the nations preparedness. The NDPC identifies, develops, tests, and delivers training to state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) emergency management and emergency response communities, provides on-site and mobile training at the performance, management, and planning levels, and facilitates the delivery of training by other training partners of FEMA and DHS. FEMA and NDPC members work together to address long-term trends that impact national preparedness - including rising disaster costs, new technology, an older and more diverse population, and emerging threats. The NDPC program objectives are: Strengthen community resilience through training that addresses threats to the homeland including natural, human-caused, and technological. Operate as an integrated, networked community of training partners that maximizes resources for the greatest achievable outcomes.
