Five Illinois counties, Alexander, Hardin, Pulaski, Gallatin and Saline; face a fundamental lack of mental health services for justice-involved youth; often having to take juveniles out of the home county for services. If the juveniles are in need of anything greater than outpatient treatment, these youth are sent outside of their home county and sent up to central Illinois, many miles away. Lack of social services coupled with the lack of public transportation, can make it very difficult for juveniles to access resources to avoid entering the Juvenile Justice system in the first place or to succeed while in the system.

This grant provides funding to organizations for developing a comprehensive outreach strategy to enhance awareness and participation in the Chesapeake Bay Program's restoration efforts across its watershed.

The Angler Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation (Angler R3) grant program provides financial assistance to partners who conduct Angler R3 programs and activities in Wisconsin. Funding is provided through the Dingell Johnson Sportfish Restoration Act, a federal aid program. The goals of the Angler R3 grant program are to grow the numbers of anglers in Wisconsin and expand angling participation among adults, particularly from non-traditional audiences. To achieve these goals, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will award cost-sharing funds to community-based organizations, community centers, government agencies, Wisconsin tribes, colleges, universities and schools to ensure the education and development of safe and ethical adult anglers. This is achieved by supporting projects that offer higher uses for materials, focus on waste prevention, or improve the quality, quantity, and availability of recycling infrastructure. The Re+ Circular Economy Grant has two primary focus areas: Prevention and Reuse, and Recycling. Prevention and Reuse projects encompass efforts to reduce material consumption, build infrastructure for reusable products, increase food rescue, and encourage sharing or donating items. Recycling projects aim to create or expand markets for recycled materials (including organics), improve the quality and access to recycling in various communities, and even commercialize technologies that replace virgin materials with recycled content. Projects addressing plastic, paper, and organics (food waste, yard waste, and wood) are given higher priority during the evaluation process, reflecting a strategic emphasis on key waste streams. With approximately $2.2 million in grant funding available for the 2024-25 cycle, the program expects measurable outcomes such as increased food rescue for human and animal consumption, stimulated demand for reused and recycled products, expanded access to reuse and recycling programs, and enhanced collection and processing capacity for recyclable materials. Furthermore, the program anticipates the commercialization of new technologies that utilize recycled content and the development of new uses for recycled materials, all demonstrating future waste diversion potential. The King County Solid Waste Division's strategic priority is a whole system approach that balances upstream prevention with downstream recycling, underpinned by a theory of change that by supporting innovative projects in these areas, King County can achieve substantial reductions in landfill waste and foster a more equitable and resilient circular economy.

This mechanism directly aligns with the broader mission of maximizing the value of breast cancer patient participation in clinical research, thereby addressing knowledge gaps that may arise from early trial termination, limited patient follow-up, or insufficient data collection and analysis. By ensuring that the invaluable contributions of patient tissues, serum, other biological specimens, and data are fully utilized, the BCRP aims to ensure that scientific efforts truly value these contributions and maximize their impact in saving lives. The primary target beneficiaries of this award are breast cancer patients and the scientific community. The impact goals are to increase the clinically relevant impact of breast cancer patient participation, accelerate progress toward ending breast cancer, and generate meaningful hypotheses or support valid conclusions. The program prioritizes research that extends or affects the impact of previous clinical trials or studies, or creates new impact in the fight against breast cancer. It specifically encourages innovative research in nuclear medicine to support early diagnosis, more effective treatment, and improved health outcomes for active-duty Service Members, Veterans, military beneficiaries, and the American public. Key focuses for the research scope include deeper molecular analysis of clinical samples, initiation of new correlative studies, biomarker validation, or continued clinical follow-up of patients in open, ongoing, or completed clinical trials. The proposed research can be hypothesis-testing or -generating, and may also be designed to create clinically annotated and molecularly characterized experimental platforms, such as patient-derived models or tissue arrays. Innovation is not a primary criterion for this award, and projects proposing new clinical trials will not be supported. A critical focus is on meaningful and productive partnerships between investigators, with a Partnering PI Option available to accommodate two Principal Investigators who bring distinct and equally intellectual contributions to the project. Expected outcomes include increased understanding of breast cancer through extended data analysis, validation of biomarkers, improved patient follow-up, and the development of new experimental platforms. Measurable results are tied to valid conclusions from appropriately sized study samples and a clear data-sharing plan to ensure the scientific community has access to generated platforms and molecular data. The program also emphasizes robust research teams with relevant expertise and mandatory involvement of two or more breast cancer consumer advocates who provide objective input on the research's potential impact for individuals with, or at risk for, breast cancer. The overall strategic priority is to accelerate clinical and translational research, especially for advanced state and recurrent patients, and to improve health outcomes for military service members and the public through relevant collaborations and innovative techniques.

This grant cycle has been designed for smaller projects that complement existing and/or regional HHW programs in California. Grant applications must include one or more of the following types of projects: HHW public education and outreach for general audiences (may include extended producer responsibility [EPR] information).Implementation of sustainable EPR collection opportunities, to include but not limited to: (1) Promotion of an ongoing retail take-back program such as batteries or fluorescent lamps at local hardware stores, businesses, or government facilities.(2) Promotional collection events hosted at businesses or government facilities.(3) Promotional public education and outreach materials specifically for local retail take-back programs. (4) Project to: Determine and implement the most safe and cost effective methods for collecting propane gas cylinders and/or marine flares.Implement effective education programs and identify effective incentives that reduce the disposal of household hazardous waste. The incentives must be something reusable to replace HHW being disposed (does not include monetary or SWAG incentives, rechargeable batteries, adapters, valves, caps or other accessories for refilling propane canisters).(5) Set-up and operation of temporary or mobile collection program for one-day or multi-day collection events for the following except for those materials that are currently covered by another recycling/collection program (e.g. covered electronic waste, cell phones, thermostat, etc.): Common HHW materials and universal waste.Marine flaresPropane gas cylinders up to 5 gallonsSolar panels as a pilot project. Awardees are required to collect and report data on type/style of panels, manufacturer, volume, and the method of disposal.(6) New or expanded curbside and/or door-to-door collection programs to allow for the collection of new and eligible HHW materials. (7) Minor improvements to an existing HHW facility. (Examples include but are not limited to: storage bins, signage, painting, paving, shelving, etc.). Purchase of personal protection equipment. (8) 8-hour refresher Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standards (HAZWOPER) training. Projects that do not fall within one of these eight categories will not be eligible for grant funding. A Resolution is required by the secondary due date.

A key focus is to equip counties with high-quality documents that will serve as a strong foundation for future funding applications, with the incentive of gaining up to 10 additional points for being "shovel ready." This strategic emphasis on preparedness and quality planning underpins the program's approach to maximizing preservation outcomes. The expected outcomes of the THCPP Planning Grants are multi-faceted. Firstly, counties will produce detailed construction plans and specifications that are 95% complete, which is a measurable result indicating the readiness for full-scale restoration. Secondly, these documents will enable eligible counties to apply for subsequent restoration funding cycles, with the program anticipating a higher success rate for counties with approved plans. The ultimate, long-term impact goal is the successful restoration of historic courthouses across Texas, ensuring their continued use and appreciation while meeting modern demands. This contributes to the foundation's overarching strategic priority of preserving cultural heritage and ensuring the longevity of these important public buildings.
