Organizations applying for Facility Improvement needs must have proof of ownership of the building or evidence of a long-term lease. Professional/Organizational Development (up to $1,500) Professional/Organizational Development funding is designed to assist an organization in providing arts and culture-related educational opportunities that increase the knowledge and skills of the organization’s personnel. Only staff members, contracted employees, board members, and/or volunteers may be selected to participate in the organization’s Professional/Organizational Development request. Transportation (up to $1,500) Transportation funding is designed to assist organizations that have a need to transport participants in “field trip” style events to engage in arts and cultural programming/services/activities. The transportation costs may be associated with both in-state and out-of-state travel. The transportation funding may be related to (or may be separate from) any other project applied for within this Experience Support grant application. The funding may be used in one (or both) of the following ways: Transporting a group of participants to the applicant’s venue to participate in the applicant’s arts and cultural programming/services/activities. However, many children and adolescents with mental health and substance use disorders do not receive the treatment they need. The Foundation does not endorse a particular evidence-based practice or list of such practices, but will prioritize the following proposals aimed at improving behavioral health service delivery by: Implementing infant mental health models (zero to three) targeted to at-risk parents. Implementing developmental screening, assessment, and mental health treatment models in early childhood settings for children (four to six). Implementing pediatric screening, assessment, diagnosis and behavioral health treatment models in primary care and school-based clinic settings. Implementing therapeutic interventions including, but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, family psychoeducation, trauma informed care, applied behavior therapy, etc. Implementing diversion programs intended to divert children and youth with mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health/substance abuse disorders from the juvenile justice system into treatment and services. Implementing best practice peer support models to increase access to behavioral health services for children and young people. Funding Information The Foundation is requesting proposals to implement Children’s Mental Health Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) and has allocated approximately $500,000 for 2024. Eligibility and Program Requirements  Using state and national data documenting health, education and economic disparities throughout Michigan communities, they are recruiting school districts to join the Building Healthy Communities program where these disparities affect residents the most. They’re presenting the opportunity to central district administrators, school-level administrators and teachers in an effort to achieve districtwide support and commitment. Participation in Building Healthy Communities: Reducing Health Disparities in Elementary Schools requires a school district to: Complete a Memorandum of Understanding between the school district and the program. The City of Alpena Downtown Development Authority (the “DDA”) established its Façade Improvement Grant Program for Commercial & Mixed-Use Properties. Projects may now apply for grants of 50% of their façade project total. All projects must be complete by April 30, 2025. Funding Information The Design Committee may award grants under the program in any amount requested from a minimum award of $500.00 to up to 50% of eligible renovation costs. All requests must be approved by the DDA Board. Building Eligibility Requirements Location and Nature of Building Use.  Properties located within the legal boundary of Alpena’s DDA district engaging in retail, restaurant, commercial, entertainment, office services, or properties that are mixed- use shall be deemed eligible for grant funding. Any question concerning the eligibility of a specific property may be submitted to the Executive Director of the DDA. A determination of location and building use eligibility will be provided to the interested party within two business days following receipt of the inquiry. Payment of Taxes and Other Public Accounts. All previously billed and currently payable property taxes and annual installments of assessments must be paid in full for the subject property before an application for a façade improvement grant will be considered. Additionally, all City of Alpena accounts in the name of the applicant and/or attaching to the subject property must be current. All taxes, assessments, and other city accounts must be kept current during the application, review, construction, and post-construction processes. Nature of Façade. Grant funding may be requested for any façade (front, side, or rear) that fronts on a public right of way (street, alley, or public parking lot). Applicants may apply for up to 50% of eligible renovation costs per façade. All requests for funding must be approved by the DDA Board of Directors. Greater consideration for funding will be given to work proposed on a façade fronting a city street. Structural Integrity of Building. Buildings for which improvements are proposed must have basic structural integrity and an intact roof as confirmed by the City of Alpena Building Department, thereby protecting the DDA’s potential investment in the façade. Insurance Coverage. The applicant or the owner of the subject property must carry suitable property insurance coverage on the subject property and must provide a certificate of coverage to the DDA with the application. The applicant or owner is strongly encouraged to also carry a builder’s risk policy of insurance covering potential damage to the building’s structure by the contractor.
