The NYFIRST medical school grant program aims to support the recruitment or retention of exceptional life science researchers at New York State medical schools. The program offers a maximum grant of $1.0 million, with a requirement for grantees to provide $2 in matching funds for every $1 of NYFIRST program assistance. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) seeks applications to fund safety and security projects at nonprofit organizations at risk of hate crimes or attacks because of their ideology, beliefs, or mission. Approximately $25 million to $60 million is expected to be made available to fund approximately 125-300 projects throughout New York State. Should additional funding become available, DCJS intends to meet as much of the requested needs as possible. Applications will be accepted for up to $200,000 per organization. Each eligible organization may submit one (1) application for one or more physical security enhancements and/or cybersecurity enhancements. Organizations can submit for different types of enhancements within their application (e.g., locks and alarm system) so long as the total requested by the organization is equal to, or less than, $200,000. Organizations may submit applications for projects at facilities that have received any prior SCAHC funding if the proposed project is different than any previously funded projects or builds upon or enhances the security measures previously undertaken. All funding must support project related costs that will be incurred during the contract period. Funding under this program must supplement, not supplant, non-grant funds that would otherwise be available.

The Summer Meals Capacity-Building Mini-Grants program seeks to increase the number of children and youth in the City of Rochester receiving summer meals and the number of days meals are served. The program serves youth 18 and under who are in programs that serve, or are located near, a school with at least 50% free and reduced meals eligibility rates. The City of Rochester is designated a high-need area, making all youth in the city eligible for summer meals. The Summer Meals program (officially the Summer Food Service Program) is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service. Proposals may include requests for one or more of the following: A Summer Meals Volunteer Coordinator or supplemental staff to increase the Summer Meals site’s capacity to serve additional children and/or to extend the number of days of meal service. One-time capital purchases to increase the capacity of the Summer Meals site to serve additional children and/or extend the number of days of meal service. Examples include purchase of tables, chairs, and coolers.
