The Community Waste Reduction Grant (CWRG) is a competitive grant program that provides funding for innovative projects that significantly reduce waste and/or increase the diversion of recoverable materials that would otherwise be sent to the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill for disposal. Recipients must provide a twenty percent (20%) cash contribution toward the project. If a project is awarded grant dollars, SWACO requires grantees to document and measure the impact of the project’s activities. No approved purchases can be made before the execution of a grant agreement. If awarded, funded projects must be completed by December 31, 2025. Event waste reduction grants also aid in helping event organizers with building needed and necessary infrastructure to sustain diversion efforts beyond the grant funding year. BWC uses the Trench Safety Grant (TSG) Program to partner with Ohio employers to substantially reduce or eliminate injuries associated with trenching operations. The TSG does not fund equipment purchases for technical rescue operations. The program is available to eligible Ohio employers who wish to purchase the following qualified/allowed items: Shoring: aluminum, hydraulic, or other types of supports to prevent soil movement and cave-ins. Shielding: trench boxes or other types of supports to protect against soil cave-ins. As part of our Safety Grant programming, the TSG Program is available only to Ohio employers that perform trenching and excavating.
